N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Nikki:  We have not had bad reviews of Navy Lodge on this site?  Like NavyMom said, they just recently renovated.  Some of your N4Moms veterans stayed there so they can offer more info.

Navy Lodge is about a mile from RTC....other recommended hotels from reports on this site are:  Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express, all in Waukegan/Gurnee area and close to Sarge's MeetandGreet.  You can take a PIR shuttle from these hotels or drive.  They are about 4-5 miles from RTC (about a 10 min drive).

Nicksmom:  It is always a good idea to bring some of their clothes....and let them choose what they want to take---since your son is staying at GL for A School....he will move over there shortly after PIR, and can return that night with the clothes if he wants to....or after turning from Liberty on Sat or Sun also.  Like NavyMom said, once they phase up, they can wear some "civies."  You can mail any additional clothing to him later if he wants that.  Some may find that their civies don't fit anymore!  They are in pretty great shape by PIR!  :-)

For those concerned about the Navy Lodge, from what I have been told they have done updates & by time we get there they will have a full continental breakfast.

Nicksmom: they should be able to wear civilian clothes after a couple weeks when not on duty. My SR is Ship 13 Div 364. Are you on our fb page too?

Comment by Dorothea on August 12, 2013 at 6:25pm

SRsailomom, my son is in that ship and div.

My son will be remaining at Great Lakes for A school. Does anyone know if they are allowed to wear civilian clothes while at A school. Wondering if I should be bringing some of his clothes when we come to see him.

Hi All! Yes, got a call Saturday from our SR, it was so great to hear from him! He seemed positive about career choice! YAY! We booked our flights to Chicago, and now need a hotel/motel and car rental. Where is everyone from Ship 14 Div 361 staying? Also, I rsvp'd to the meet and greet!
