~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

jpsmom:  We had no problem picking up the shuttle right after PIR.

Good Morning!

Connorsmom:  See CatMom's post below yours.  We loved the shuttle to/from PIR!

Made our reservations for the Navy Lodge. Very reasonable rates. Haven't decided to drive ourselves to PIR or get a shuttle. Any suggestions?

jpsmom,

I know that both diannep and I (at different PIRs) left our rental cars at the hotels, then had Sarge pick us up about 6:30 am, got there in about 10-15 minutes, walked about 50 yards to the graduation hall entrance, then in our seats just after 7:00 am.  My daughter and myself got the last two seats in the lower bleachers against the back wall -- great for leaning up against!  Not sure where diannep ended up~~

It was soooo convenient not to worry about remembering shortcuts -- or gasp!!-- getting a little lost or having to wait in the long, long car line on Buckley Road in the right waiting to turn into RTC when you could stay to the left of that line go past the RTC entrance, go to the train station and turn around safely.  Come back toward the RTC gate and make a nice, easy left turn into RTC!!  Just gave you a shortcut!!

Nope, you don't have to come right back on the shuttle to your hotel.  We went to the Photo Lab to look at my Sailor daughter's proofs (she didn't like the way they turned out and I agreed), the NEX to shop, then caught the shuttle in the lot to the right of the NEX.  Make sure you get a Sarge shuttle back.  He won't overcharge you like other shuttle companies might.  It's supposed to be only $3.00 to PIR and back, charged separately.  Keep Sarge's cell # 847-212-0246 programmed into your phone to give him a quick call if none of the shuttles look like they are with him~

Thanks so much to the "veteran members"! This is all so helpful! My son is ship 09 div 308!

I think you will like Country Inn and Suites, jpsmom!  We have had such mixed reviews in the past on the Ramada, and the area it is in is not so great, we have been told.  Sarge's shuttle to PIR is just $3/pp each way, which is the same price as the area shuttle service (all are taxis operating as shuttles for PIR).  You can contact Sarge at:

847 212 0246 or email johnspadaro@att.net

If you want to arrange a ride to PIR, please contact him within 2 weeks of PIR.  He also shuttles from the airports for those not renting cars.

jpsmom,

I just checked the reviews on the Ramada that you are booked at in Waukegan.  I think you should take a look at the Tripadvisor reviews, which are in fact, part of their ratings on the Ramada site itself~~

jpsmom, my son's name is Marcus.  Yes, my husband and I will be going to graduation!  We are staying at a Country Inn and Suites in Gurnee.  We have a rental car booked since we are planning on staying a few days afterward so it will just be easier for us.
