~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

williewish,
Yep, diannep asked me to post the encouraging Bible scripture to the other PIR groups after my Sailor daughter had her PIR in March 2013. I started with a few PIR groups at a time, then worked up to all of them. Then I started answering the mommas' questions when I knew the answers usually after the east coast veterans have retired for the night since I am on the west coast. Just watched diannep, ellen0502, Lala, and FTLW (not on as much anymore) responding to everyone's questions and always so graciously!! If I wasn't quite right, it was okay, they just gave the right one and I learned from that~~ Oh, lemonelephant on Boot Camp Moms is a wealth of information too!! I feel like we are a family of veteran sisters here!! :D
I am also part of the Christian Chat group here~~
You're also welcome, williewish, I do love to help here as much as I can~~ I feel this is God's ministry for me!
Mandy, my son is on 9/307 PIR 10/3. Its exactly how I feel. Missing my son so much. I got a very short letter 9/5 the other page says "omg paper! (sorry I'm so tired)". coz I send him return envelopes with a piece of paper, postage, & address labels. So i can just imagine how tired he was. Just had a good cry this afternoon. Sleepless nights too lately. We have to stay strong. Sending you good thoughts and (((hug))). I hope and pray they do well to get the chance to call us.
You are very welcome, williewish!
Mandy, hang in there. Bootcamp is like that....so emotionally up and down. PIR will be so worth all you are going through!
diannep,
Thank you for staying on and helping the newbies. You have helped me tremendously to get through a very difficult time in my life. Just having information that I would not have gotten if it wasn't for you. Seeing that others are going through the same thing that I am going through and you...you have already experienced it. Thank you!!!!
Wear comfortable ones, Samantha, as there is a good degree of walking! So good shoes are a must!
williewish: My son was at Bootcamp in 2009. I decided to stay on these groups after he graduated....so having been here for so long, you learn alot! We are in touch with the Public Affairs people when we need questions answered....and there have been a few more who work up there in the A School who have helped us in the past. We also get lots of our info from YOU all....people report changes to us that they get through their SRs....and anything that may be different about PIR. So far, most things are the same as when my son was there.
CatMom is one of our newest N4Moms veterans! She was posting bible verses in the PIR group that her daughter was a part of over a year ago.....I really liked her contributions to her group and asked her if she would consider staying on and doing that for all of the groups and helping out! She was very willing and has been a wonderful asset to our "team" since then! We welcome anyone who is interested to stay on these groups after they have a sailor and help....we never can have too many!
CatMom,
I hope that you are right.
CatMom, I am just curious. How did you and diannep become so knowledgeable with the Navy? I realize that you have family in the Navy but..... you have been so helpful to so many of us.
