I just bought my plane tickets today too.... if I would have bought yesterday, I would have saved 120.00 :( I put it off as long as I could. I rented a car, I've never done any of this on my own, so I don't even know how to rent a car LOL Maybe I lucked out and got a Mercedes?? I have two hotel reservations, one for Navy Lodge and one for Comfort Inn.... I don't know which one to choose LOL

My son and I had briefly discussed the mind games the RDCs would put him through and I would jokingly tell him that if the RDCs tried to tell him his mom didn't love or care about him...he was NOT TO LISTEN!!

I find it so amazing how "textbook" my son's experience at boot camp is. When I would read about how the recruits would be feeling initially, I was thinking "no, not my son", and sure enough I get his letter and he feeling EXACTLY like everyone said he would. Then his attitude turned around about the time everyone said he would. Thanks for all the information ladies. It has turned out to be spot on accurate!

Sorry ladies, I had to go away for a while. Now, diannep, you know I'd never get past those nasty, but necessary, guards at the front gate. Anyway, I'd only end up on the evening news and embarass the heck out of my entire family. I wonder how long I could carry a sign that says "Throw the bad boys out of 326"? Okay, I'm done ranting for the day. Tomorrow, other half and I will walk around First Monday. Sort of like a flea market held on the weekend before the first monday of the month. It will be cool here in the morning so we thought we'd get a lilttle exercise. Then I go pick up the material and instructions for September for the Civil War Tribute quilt I am working on for the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War. Just a quick word about a group on the 2nd page of groups. It is for sending items to the Sailors aboard the Harry S Truman for Christmas. Please check it out. Thanks, and have a great evening.

Hey, Elaine.....I like that you are willing to go up there and use your Whoop A** on those who need it. I say....do it! :-)

I hope so diannep, and thanks.

Jessica, sent him a card today with just that saying on it "Eyes on the prize". Took someone's advice about the Hallmark store and spent 10 + bucks on cards. I'm hoping even with HELL week next week they will get mail and I plan on sending out a card a day. He is such a great son and it makes me sad to know this is happening to him. He, nor any of the other boys in his division, deserve to have this happen to them. I never laid a hand on my boys after they were 3 or 4, as a mother you probably understand those phases, but I could put a can of Whoop A** on those causing trouble. Thanks for letting me vent. I do feel a little better.

Good post, Jessica!!!

Keep the faith, Elaine! Lots of motivating threats to light a fire under those who need it. They have to have these recruits work as a team...or it could mean lives when they are on a ship, ground, etc. The RDC's know what they are doing, believe me. I did read a post from Hoppi one time (works on GL base) that she has seen whole divisions setback. So apparently it can happen....but I haven't seen it happen in the 9 months I've been on here. Doesn't mean it can't....but we won't go there.....Let's think this, Elaine. By the time his letter got to you, they have come together much better and are moving along! hooYAH!

Bad letter from my son today. Written on the 31st. If they don't straighten up, no more phone calls. He's afraid the division will be set back and not graduate on the 1st of October. I am hoping that since he wrote this 3 days ago, those boys causing trouble have been put on a bus home. I won't know until his next letter. OMG!!!!! Words of wisdom to my son before he left, "Keep you eyes and ears open and your mouth shut". Wish other parents had said the same. This is his worst letter yet. He sounds so upset. Time for RDC's to do something.
