JessicaL T also got a debit card with his Navy Fed account when he opened it during bc. He used it some in bc.

djloch: Was Zac's division Hall of Fame also? My son's too when he went through. The most flags, extra hour of liberty. He was so proud!

Ditto to everything djloch said about the differences between the 1st half of bc and the 2nd half. All the difference in the world! Hang in there!

Ok, Jessica, you took up almost the whole page! HA! But it is great info so that means it is GOOD!

Ladies, I live in Northern Illinois. I've been to Gurnee Mills Mall many times. I just wanted to let you know that it's one of our favorites (my daughter and I). It's an outlet mall and is all on one level. There's every place you could want to eat in and around the mall. We always go shopping there before Christmas. One year we got stranded there because of a snow storm. We got a hotel room and walked back over and shopped some more. It was so much fun we've made it a tradition to spend the night. If you like to shop, you'll love it. And it is very close to Great America 6 Flags.

Jane---Zac opened an account there and got his ATM card like that next week.. and yes thats what he used to pay for his pics.
And some of the girls called their moms in my PIR group to let them know when to mail their straighteners, contacts, etc. Alot of them bought makeup at NEX.

TiffsMom--the mall we visited near the base with my son is Gurnee Mall..There is also a Giordano's world famous chicago pizza there too!! VERY YUM!!!

LTLY & everyone--its very easy for them to get overwhelmed these first half of boot..alot of yelling and tearing down to get them to rely on each other..Just put a card in mail to one addressed to him and all his division telling them how my son's division learned quickly if work together the rewards were great such as extra free time on Sun and won the most flags of all divisions and got an extra hour liberty that Fri of PIR. Maybe that help motivate. Tried to to give them some light at the end of the tunnel. Tell them funny stories of whats going on back home and pictures ( I cut smaller for more room) to take the homesickness edge off. I ended every letter with 'Hooyah 285' (that Zac div) and 'Proud Navy Mom'. Even told Zac stories about previous grad groups on here that I had read to help him look forward..Hope all of this helps and please message me if anybody needs me to help write theirs, I would love too!!!!

ProudNvyMom, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I've been watching the PBS Carrier episodes on my computer. Pretty cool. But I thought they showed too much "drama" that maybe should have been kept out of there. That may be because they only show the most public things like the mess hall and some flight training stuff. Kept nuclear reactor stuff off.

LTLY, would you rather he not be missing you and the kids? Just a reality check. God has given him this GREAT opportunity to provide for all of you. He will have good days and bad days, just like us. Remember in 4 weeks you will all be together again. We are halfway there. Now, dry your tears, go sit on the front porch and drink a glass of cold ice tea. I saw the number of the photo lab somewhere. Jessica, Sobe, Dianne, HELP.

Oh yeah, he also said Hell week starts Monday (which we allready had figured out) and their first PFA that actually counts will be next week along with all the inspections, tests, and drill that make up Hell Week.

Hello! Still praying for those on the East Coast.

I am having a rough day emotionally. I got a letter from my husband and he is having a rough time missing me and the kids. He is doing well as an individual as far as BC goes, but emotionally he is struggling. He ended his letter when he went to bed, but then started writing again bc he couldn't sleep. I find a little comfort knowing that God has provided this opportunity for our hearts to grow even more fond for eachother. But it still hurts. I miss him soooo much!

I don't mean to be a downer, but I have to get it out when the kids aren't around.
He did ask for me to send him a blank check so he can order pictures during week 5. I don't feel comfortable sending a blank check through the mail, so can someone remind me about the picture ordering...can they just have them deduct it from their paycheck? And can't we pay for them on the day of PIR?
