I also got letters today, one a questionnaire I had sent, the other a whole page and 4 lines on a second page. WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!! He said he didn't have teeth pulled, they weren't there. And this from a Texas Scholar!!!! He has not failed an inspection personally, but the division took 2 compartment hits in the first week. His bunkmate is from AZ. His letter sounds like he is a little bummed and he says maybe he should have listened to me more about being in better shape before he left. Had a little scare this evening. Called my mom, who is 83 and lives alone with her cat, to tell her about the letter and her phone rang and rang and rang. Called my sister who lives 10 minutes away and she went over there to find out if anything was wrong. Mom's phone isn't working. WIll call phone company in the morning to test the line. She has alarm system and Life Alert, too. She still drives and gets to church, groceries and to the County Co-op for her bird seed and shelled peanuts for the squirrels. Has lived in the same house for 52+ years. Well, I'm checking other sites tonight, PIR 9/2/10 finished up M&G about an hour ago. Sounds like they had a blast. Everyone have great evening.

My recurit has had a checking account and savings at the same bank that we use. He started working when he was 16 and from 17 on has been making monthly payments on a very sweet motorcycle. Before he left for BC he closed both accounts at his bank and we went to NFCU where he had already opened accounts and he added me to both his checking and savings. We talked about how much he wanted to me to make above the monthly amount due for the bike payment. Has already decided on his next bike so wants to get this one paid off faster. Also he would like us to put the bike the shop while he is gone and there are several things he would like done and since he can't ride it I can take care of this with his money and no hassle. Anyway for right now it seemed like the way to go with the least amount of trouble. He showed me how to log on what numbers I need and I tried it with him sitting right beside me to make sure there were no problems.

@ Linda-
I think they got spoiled too. It sounded like they were taking things for granted and they got a dose of "wake up, or else." At the beginning it sounded like our guys had it together...maybe they got lazy? My husband did ask for leadership advice (still won't ask for directions when we are lost)...so I sent him my best RDC impersination! "Get your heads out of your @$$ TODAY, not tomorrow!!!"...and some nicer more motivating thoughts. So any help here would be appreciated. Write to your recruit about leadership and wisdom and also that "following the leader" doesn't make them any less of men/women. And that authority figures are not superior, however they are necessary. They will get more respect when they learn to give respect. We do have a good group of recruits, but we cannot imagine what little mind struggles are standing in their way. ALL of them are leaders!!! Sometimes the best leaders don't know how to follow. Which came first? The chicken or the egg?

Do you all realize how FAST the next couple of weeks are going to fly by?! I feel like I have so much to do and not enough time! Shoe shopping should clear my mind! Did someone say wine?!

Also, my low budget review... we use USAA and get great deals on auto/home/renters insurance and great banking through them too! I also got roadside assistance with my auto policy for half of AAA prices. Although you dont get the travel discounts that AAA has, but many other perks for being with USAA.

Got two letters today, written over the weekend and sent Monday! It had been taking 5 days to get a letter he wrote. He confirmed that Mon. was week 3 day 1 for Div 946. He said that they were fitted for their dress uniforms and service uniforms on last Thurs. (26th). I am wondering if they deducted for those allready. His check seemed higher than I expected. Not complaining though. But this makes me think they took out for some of the items issued during processing week and will take these recently issued things out of the next check. Idk, I am a budgetter, darn Dave Ramsey! And since I can't see his LES (anyone know where I go to look at that?)...I am trying to manage my expectations of the next check. He knew ahead of time that they weren't going to get a phone call over the weekend. He held out hope, but I guess the guys didn't have it together enough to earn it. Not to worry others, but he did say, in one of his questionares, that they werent' working well enough as a team latley. Praying for that to change!
While he was telling me how bummed he was for not getting a letter from me two days in a row (this would have been when the baby had her doctors appointments and EEG) he also let me know that they don't recieve mail on Sat or Sun. So now I feel horrible bc that means he went 4 days without hearing from me. :( Good thing I hit the card isle at Target pretty hard yesterday!! I will be sending doubles for the next few days!
Anyone else have HM (Corpsman) in Div 946??

If the kids forgot to take the direct deposit form they may have had no other choice than to open an acct. Only one of my sons took that form, the other just took the acct info and a voided check and he ended up opening a navy acct. Maybe?

And, Rhonda...absolutely! I told my son that he will have to know his stuff before allowing himself to be taking advantage of by a car dealer or anyone else. Very sad to me....I think when I was his age, there was still some mentoring going on. Not so much anymore! Everyone's job is up for grabs....by someone as young as our kids are!
