I address them the same way he sent his form letter, stating when he graduated and his address. I hope they catch up with him, cause he seems extremely upset he hasnt heard from me. I feel horrible about it.

I received my 1st letter today, and my husband is very upset he hasnt received anything from me. I have sent him a letter everyday since August 16th. He said he gets really sad when everyone gets mail and he doesnt. I cried so much, thinking how alone he feels there.

LOL One of mine was Two letters for two different boys umm Hmmm... My letter was 3 pages of navy stationary and four (front/back) of notebook paper, notes she wrote throught the days/nights before the Sunday letter. She said she hasn't cried yet but almost when she was in Freedom hall and knew that was where she would get to see us :( and the food is good, didn't have to have a pap LOL said nothing about her teeth yet YET she is a 2nd Mail Person Petty Officer, she said she should be 1st but said Oh well... hahaha failed her PT tests but has time to work on it.... she gabbed and gabbed.. wonder where she gets it from??

reenie, 13 is not such a bad number, my son was born on a Friday, the 13th and it has always been his lucky number. He is Ship13/Division 326. He also wore 13 when he played baseball for his high school team and select ball. I am off to start a new letter. Have a good one.

Okay, Everyone head out the door!!! I got a letter and my scream is probably still traveling around the world!!!! He must not have gotten my fill-in-the-blanks letter because it was not in there. Pretty much the same as everyone has heard, it sucks but not as bad as he thought. He can't wait for BC to be over so he can be "free" again. He has always been pretty picky about what he will eat but says the food is good, he signed it Sincerely your best son.

There was a kid on the plane to GL with my son who joined boot camp because he was homeless and hungry, but he was together enough to know he wanted more out of life and impressed the recruiter. His mom had issues, he never knew his father. He didn't end up in Brandon's division, but he was looking forward to dicipline in his life and something he could always count on. I bet that kid goes far.

Some of these recruits have never had chores at home, or were not forced to do them, they are used to talking back to adults and teachers, etc. Boot camp is a real eye opener for some - which means the whole division gets IT when one goofs up because they don't know how to follow directions/orders (or choose not to). It takes a few weeks for them to work it out, but they do!
