Hey LOUANN0628 you just hang in there, most everyone finds out something, struggles with something or has to deal with something during this process -- you and your recruit are in fine company! Just be positive and know that we're here for you and it will all work out!

Hello ladies.. this is my first post on this group. Just got my letter today. My son is in ship 13 div 328. So my PIR is 10/1. Its great to finally know but the letter has kept me in tears. He is not very happy and was told he is color blind and cannot keep the current job he requested (aviation machinist mate) so now I dont know where he will be going to A school or what he is gonna be doing. I feel like I am back to the day we left MEPS now with my emotions.

djloch: Very sweet compliment, thanks! We try --and hopefully between the 3 of us will catch all of the questions. As the groups get chattier, it gets much more challenging! I went back through 10 pages just this morning on one group...in just about 3 hours! YIKES! But we are happy to help!

Just heard from my friend at RTC: This PIR group will graduate in Dress Whites. You guys are the final group until spring time. The first group to grad in Navy Blues is the 10/8 group. They switch with the seasons. All recruits buy both uniforms. No matter which set your recruits wear, their portraits are always taken in the Navy Blues.

Sort of bummed, no call, no letter from my son. I keep telling myself...no news is good news...no news is good news....no news is good news.

Wow, it's good to hear most everyone got a phone call over the weekend, letters are nice but there's nothing like hearing their voice right?

I wanted to weigh in a little on the M&G at the Ramada. I did not stay at the Ramada for PIR but there was no reasoning behind it other than my husband prefers to have a "suite type" room so we can spread out and relax. I was not disappointed with the Ramada at all. The crowd was great (N4M) and I really enjoyed meeting everyone from this site. I didn't sample the appetizers but my husband (and ex husband) did and I didn't hear any complaints. To be honest, everyone was just SO excited and anxious to see PIR and their new sailors we could have been meeting in a cow pasture and still had goosebumps! So don't sweat the small stuff ladies, enjoy each other for the brief meeting and sharing of experiences, the excitement of the approaching PIR will be foremost in your mind and every other thought is washed away when they open that door and those sailors come marching in!

I was lucky to get a call yesterday as well! As for the wisdom teeth being pulled, my son said he had two pulled last Thurs. and it wasn't bad at all. He said while him and some others from his Div. had to wait they got in some TV watchin (which was the highlight of the day) then he got 1 SIQ day which was pretty nice as well. So after dreading it he said it turned out to be a good thing and he is glad he got it done. Only one guy in his group had to deal with an infection, but it was treated right away and he is now fine as well :)

Glad to see you back, SOBE. Yes, weaning off isn't too easy!

Actually, MichelleB: Your recruit may be very impressed that you know about hooYAH! Doesn't take these guys long to realize that we moms know alot more than they think we do! because of N4M's My son always called with hooYAHS...well, when it was a GOOD phone call....when he was a bit discouraged, not too many hooYAHS! :-)
