I have called everyone I can think of to stop what they are doing, if possible, and send up prayers for Jake. I hope it all turns out OK for you and Jake both.

FYI: KeKe's mom posted a press release yesterday, which is wonderful, and has the exact wording too - however I was asked by someone in the Public Affairs office at RTC to tell all of you that the recruits do get the opportunity to fill out a Fleet Hometown News release form that gets sent to the local papers in their zip codes. Parents do not need to send info to the paper, unless they want to send a photo, because the Navy already is sending the info to the papers. My son's press release was published about 10 days after he graduated. Had I known this, I would of dropped off his Navy portrait right after PIR and asked them to publish it with the article once it arrived. So, the bottom line is, you don't have to worry about giving your newspaper a press release, RTC takes care of that, but if you want his/her picture to be next to the article, you will need to get that to your local paper right after graduation!

Tiffsmom- you crack me up. You sound like you are a lot of fun. One of my very best friends was going to a casino for her birthday so I got $20.00 in nickles and wrapped each nickle separately with little candy wrappers to make them look like candy and I put them in a decorated bucket for her to collect her winnings in from the nickle slot machines. It wasn't an expensive gift but everyone at the party just loved it. :)

Good morning everyone, I think keeping the ribbons simple is the best thing. The Navy ribbon with gold or silver letters looks the best. It looks very professional and it looks great on men as well as women. The only info I put on the ribbons is the name (your choice first or last) on the left side and the division number on the right side. No need for the ship number because everyone in your division is on the same ship. It also has stars and an anchor on it. and if you let me know they are in choir or band I will put a music note on it as well. When you see someone else with the ribbon you can see right away which division they are with. If you want to go with different colors for each division let me know and I will post some pics of samples of other colors.

Hi JB's mom... Welcome to the 10/1 PIR... If you need any comic relief, go to the August Deppers for some fun! LOL OHhhhhhhhhhhhh

And.... I don't know if any of you are having problems writing each day, (I actually do have problems sometimes) Sooooo... our family is weird, I'm divorced, remarried and have a wicked sense of humor. My kids are used to it, so anything I do is not normal. One year my daughter only wanted money for her b-day (now that is the NORM) but I got 200.00 in one dollar bills, stuck them in a "DRIED" two liter coke (in Texas it's COKE, whether you want a Sprite, Pibb, etc... it's a COKE) but stuck all the dollar bills in the bottle, easy to get in, not so easy to get out!! Sooo... I'm having a hard time coming up with fun stuff to write to Tiffany... Well, I decided I will be visiting the 99 cent store (which is now the 1.99/cent store because of taxes) and buying her cards that are for spanish speaking kids, no we don't speak spanish but we have a lot of cards here in spanish. I hope I can find some Christmas, HannukakalaHLAH (I can't spell it) some 1st Birthday ones, for the first "WEEK" etc.... Just something amusing for her and she will get it... HECK, you try to bite into your PB&J at kindergarten and get a baggy with a note that says "I Love You, Have a Good Day"!!!!
