OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Not true, NavyMom:  Here is the link to the RTC page.  Scroll down and look at your date:

I think the RDCs are just "messin' with them!"  :-)

My daughters letter today stated that she is only allowed 3 PIR invites instead of 4 now.  Has anyone else received any kind of info like this?  She is 382

Edie:  Just depends on how long he is gone.  If just for a couple of days, shouldn't set him back.

I have all of the BattleStations dates now if anyone needs one.  Just friend request or message me.  I think they are correct!  :-)

I heard my son ask a man if it would send him back
He said prob a week!
My sr said ok as long as I get to see my grandpa.
Comment by diannep on October 2, 2013 at 8:37am

I still need BattleStations dates for this group.  If you received one from your SR, please friend request/message me the date (I'm keeping a schedule like I do for each PIR group).  We cannot post the dates here on N4Moms or on FB.  Thanks so much, ladies!  Some divisions will be getting I'm a Sailor calls before weeks end!  :-)

Thanks everyone.
Yes I'm very thankful for the navy allowed my son
A few days off.
My sr and his grandparents are very close.
And If I didn't get to tell him he would have been
Upset with me and everyone else who kept it from
Him!
He knows its his grandfathers time!
He said he just wants to say bye!
I do than everyone for their thoughts and prayers!

That is wonderful that they are allowing him to come home to see him, Edie.

I don't believe it will set him back either.  They most likely will allow him to make up any training he misses.

Prayers for your father and your family!

Good Morning All !

Edie, prayers for you and your family.

Edie, I am sorry to hear about your father. Will your SR be able to still have the same PIR if he comes home for a few days? Either way, I am sure he would rather be home right now.

Edie,  I am so sorry to hear about your father.  Prayers and Hugs for you, your family and your SR.
