For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

If they were to not fly out till later Satruday or even Sunday/Monday... would they allow them to spend time out and about with family?

Comment by diannep on September 17, 2013 at 2:45pm: So sorry, munchkinmom. Hope you get the next one. Next time you are cleaning, put the phone in your bra and make sure it is on vibrate+ring. That way hopefully you will feel it if you don't hear it! Phones in the bras are very common during bootcamp!

Comment by diannep on September 17, 2013 at 2:44pm: In last week's PIR group, some of the Pensacola sailors didn't fly out until Sunday, even though they normally go on Saturday most weeks. That is why we ask you all to book through Saturday night if possible. The flight departure day can vary.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on September 17, 2013 at 12:03pm: Feliciackm, there is no way to know until the week of PIR and maybe even the day of PIR when she will fly out to Pensacola. Most of them will fly out sometime on Saturday but the flight could be later in the day or even on Sunday or Monday. It all depends on number of flights available when they are booking them. We recommend staying until Sunday if you can just in case they have extra time with you :)

My ex husband will probably just go to the one right at the hotel. Hopefully the renovations will be close to done by the time we get to Great Lakes. That would be a great treat.
