~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

I think the SR's have curfew after liberty on Friday to be back at the Navy Command to ship out with their group? I think SR's have to be transported to the airport by Navy personnel and that familes can meet them at the airport to wait with them if there is time?
My SR told my by phone as family is flying in from Boston and NC to attend PIR. I will be there from 10.9.13 to Monday the 14th as I have family living 9 miles from Navy Training Command. That is what I know as of today, but who knows, it could change?
ALL GUESTS 3 AND OLDER MUST BE LISTED ON THE ACCESS LIST
. No exceptions will be made for active duty service members or retired military personnel.
Children age 2 and younger do not need to be listed on the access list and will not count toward the maximum number of guests.
Please do not call or e-mail RTC for additional seats.
Those who are not on the access list should remain off base and meet with their Sailor once he or she commences off base daytime liberty.
We do not have a designated waiting area nor do we have a standby line.
Identification:
All guests 18 years and older must present valid government issued photo identification (driver’s license, state ID card, passport, military ID card). Guests
17 years or younger who do not possess one the items listed above must present one of the following: school ID card, driver’s permit, copy of their birth certificate or social security card.

SRWyattCorpsmanMom- thank you for your reply! I actually made a typo in my earlier post, there are 3 adults. The 4 of us (including the 8yr old) are on her list and will have tickets. My 6mo actually doesn't need one thankfully. I'm just having difficulty finding a good deal, close and that will fit all of us including my sister for the night, if she does in fact leave early Saturday morning. So, many things to consider and a lot of hotels I'm sure are getting full. Maybe I'll look at it with fresh eyes tomorrow. All the excitement/stress is making my eyes cross! Thanks again!!
chi's Mom - I bet if your SR is leaving at 2am and is also going to Pensacola, she will prolly be leaving then too. How do you know that's when she's leaving? I thought we wouldn't find out till we got there. None of my letters from her have said when her flight is...
ship 12/div 388, my SR stated she would be leaving very early Saturday morning around 2am for Pensacola, FL. Will have time just Friday until curfew later that evening. 4 tickets and guest must be on guest list SR had listed on form letter. The link does talk about the age allowed without a ticket (under age 3? ) other rules.
Good morning Feliciackm - I will be attending PIR 10/11/2013 from Colorado.
Others may be more knowledgable with the tickets and guests allowed for graduation, but I just wanted to point out that to my knowledge, I'm uncertain all 4 adults will be able to attend in addition to the 8 year old and 6 month old. I wouldn't think the 6 month old will need a ticket, but the 8 year old might. I believe 4 tickets total is what each recruit received. If you find out something different about maybe not needing a ticket for the 8 year old - PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I have a 9 year old that will be attending and I had just assumed she would need 1 of the 4 tickets.
I used Priceline for my hotel and rental car. I think I got a pretty good deal on the full size rental car - just over $100 from Thursday around 5 until Sunday. That's with all taxes and fees included and will be through National. Be careful booking a hotel through Priceline though, with that many guests, possibly in 1 room? Priceline bookings are for 2 adults typically and the hotel cannot always guarantee you 2 beds because of this. Using Priceline, I was able to book our hotel at the Holiday Inn (unfortunately not the closer Holday Inn Express), but the Holiday Inn Gurnee Convention Center (9 miles away from PIR) for $78/night, not too bad.
Again, others may know more, but if your sister is not attending A school at GL, I believe she may leave Saturday morning bright and early to catch her flight to FL - midnight bright and early. You'll have to confirm that with her, if possible.
Diannep would be a good resource for you and your questions!
Good morning Edie, My daughter is on Ship 2 Div 948. you know that song that says "waiting is the hardest part" ? This is so true. I was an emotional wreck until I got a call from my daughter. I have held it together pretty well since then. Writing to her every night and burning a candle for her has helped me tremendously. I also have a cross my uncle made me that I fall asleep every night holding it. Of course it's on the floor by the time that I wake up.
So when is PIR for your sr?
Really frusterated with finding a hotel and car rental. There are 4 adults, an 8 year old and a 6 month old coming to see my sister graduate (ship 04/Div 379) and I have read through all the tips and different groups... it's pretty expensive everywhere plus, it's hard to plan since we don't know if we get the whole weekend with her. She's off to Pensacola. I'm getting really excited to see her and also pretty emotional. I'm not even sure if this is the right place to post this but, any other awesome tips that may be harder to find?? (stressed big sis)
