N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Skyjay, I think when they get down on themselves it takes a couple days to bounce back but he will. I think it's part of the process to just break them down and rebuild. To teach them how to handle stress. I think the beginning is the hardest for them.God Bless

I agree with boocoo, Skyjay.  He's going to get there.  Hoping that your next letter or call gives you more peace...it is such an up and down emotional rollercoaster for them....

Comment by boocoo on September 10, 2013 at 9:11pm

Skyjay, he will be fine. He may sound down today but he will pick up and be fine. Sounds like the division is really coming together as a team and they will help him and boost his morale. I know it's tough when we are so far away from them, but I bet his next call or letter, he will sound like his old self again. Hang in there!

Comment by Skyjay on September 10, 2013 at 9:05pm

I got a 30 minute phone call today.  I was really hoping that my SR would sound better.  He said they are switching his job.  He is so homesick.  I'm worried he will give up because he is so down.  I don't even know what to think.  Sorry I'm so negative. Just needed to vent a little.

WeeBee's Mom, so glad your SR sound so well and I am glad our SR's know each other. I hope we all get to meet each other at PIR!!!

My son called on Sunday and he sounded fine. Wanted his GF number.

Comment by WeeBee's Mom on September 10, 2013 at 7:38pm
I totally agree. Weebee definitely sounded like himself and was teasing me. He loves his division and says they work very well together. Go 388! I had sent him some descriptions of your SR's in letters and he told me when he read it he said, "Hey dudes, our moms are talking!" he spouted off names so fast I only caught one. They really seem to be getting it and I think they prefer not sitting still.

Marcelle, I thought mine sounded a lot more like himself when I talked to him on Sunday. So yeah, I think they are all coming together as a team now and they accomplishing things and they know the end is now in site!!!

My son just called his girlfriend, so 12/388 was calling again today. She was so excited. First call and he has been gone 4 weeks today. He had not had an opportunity before this, since his first two calls were to us!!! He asked me Sunday if I minded if he called her today and would I give him her # as he had lost his address page with all his #'s on it. She is still texting me, she is soooo happy! I am so glad they got to talk.

WeeBee's Mom, I don't know what they did to these SR's the last month, but my son finally sounded like his old self again, he said mom, do you mind if I call a few of my friends I only have 10 minutes. I said no that's fine. He sounded AWESOME, like a weight was lifted off his shoulder,I don't know what happened, but I am glad he is back!!!!!
