Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by doubletrouble on October 9, 2013 at 6:30pm: NausetMom, that IS NOT A RUMOUR! I have a recruit in 387 & just got off the phone with him. They DID NOT get to do bs & hope it is rescheduled to Thursday night. They were told they will still graduate Friday not matter what.

You are totally correct...you should have time with your new sailor that day, other than possible "watches". So hoping that your sailor is "free" to have breakfast that morning!

My only concern right now is that his military ID went in the wash with his uniform. They are waiting til Thursday to see if it comes back in tack. Hope he gets that taken care off before graduation so we can take him off base!!

Comment by diannep on October 8, 2013 at 11:03pm: MCEastcoastmom: Don't think you will be able to have breakfast with your sailor on Monday morning...not unless you are allowed on base for it! Their Liberty ends Sunday night and then they must "phase up" before they can leave base.

I know once my son changed divisions he too has had better luck and is doing very well. Seeing him over the weekend put me at ease
