Tracie, no letter or call here either. Afraid to leave the house on Sunday in case I miss it. Is there one day that calls are made more than other days? Just wondering because I was told by my son and the recuiter that they write on Sundays, wondering if that is phone call day too??

Oh Stevie, I'm sorry that Ashley is having a hard time. Those letters must be so upsetting. The one good thing is that she must feel better just being able to write to her Mom about all of this. She didn't hold back details because she knew she could tell you. Know matter what she knows Mom is there. We all knew that Boot Camp would be tough, but it is heart breaking to here what these kids are enduring. Thank heavens she is able to write now and have an outlet. She knows you are at home supporting her and being her biggest cheerleader. Hang in there. You and you your daughter will be in my prayers tonight.

Still waiting for a letter or phone call. Hopefully one or the other will come soon. It's encouraging to hear that some of you have gotten word. Maybe we're not far behind. Thankfully work and home keep me busy and my mind occupied.

@ Stevie, thanks for sharing about your daughter. I will pray for her, the letter sounds so depressing. I'm glad she has a couple good friends!

Since we are coming in during the dark Thurs. night from Midway, we're taking a limo ... there is bad construction around the airport, we've been warned, and even during the day Chicago is no picnic to drive in. So that's the splurge (AirportExpress.com) .. the economy rental car that we're getting in Waukegan (Enterprise) has an internet-only special weekend deal, starting at $10/day. Also, they bring the car to you (at the hotel). Will take the hotel shuttle to graduation since parking passes are a pain. So we got a car for Fri/Sat/Sun to drive our SR around (movie, restaurants, mall, whatever he wants to do). We're farm folks, real weenies about driving in city traffic, and I promised my husband there would be no stress during PIR!

I'd recommend renting a GPS if you don't have one to take with you... They are life savers!

No letter for me today either :(

I still have not made reservations. We have to wait till the 15th of Sept. to make ours. We are staying on the base. You cannot make reservations 30 prior to staying. Oh well.
I want a letter. Still nothing in the mail. I least I am not alone in this. We are all still waiting. I pray we all get letters very soon.

Now how do I get from the airport to the hotel....the woman at the hotel gave me the shuttle service's phone number and said they could help. Or I could take a taxi...someone was saying to NOT take the City Cabs as they can charge up to $90-$100....crazy.
Comment by timsmom submariner on September 3, 2010 at 2:04pm
Okay, the reservation has been made...thanks for helping me make a decision as to where I should stay.
