For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on September 28, 2015 at 12:19pm: garden gal: Your son sounds like mine! Never sick, always healthy. But he got sick at Bootcamp too. I still believe that it starts with the low immunity (temporary) from all of the vaccinations they receive at once, and then is added to by the close proximity of so many SRs. Write and remind him to use his arm, sleeve, whatever (no fingers!) to wipe his eyes to try and keep the pink eye exposure down. Very common in Bootcamp but it can keep them from going through BattleStations too. SO hands away from the eyes, SRs! I hope he feels better soon. I'm glad he got the antibiotics....hope that helps.

Comment by garden gal on September 28, 2015 at 11:06am: My DIL got a really long call (48 min). She was happy, but we are both concerned because he is sick. Had an upper respiratory infection in the beginning, then pink eye and now a bad upper respiratory. He is now on antibiotics but she said he is coughing a lot. This is a guy who is almost never sick. But I know they all get sick there. He was mostly upset because the pink eye made him miss shooting (he was SIQ) and he has to make it up this week. It was the one thing he was most looking forward to.
