For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Yes, there will be Christmas holiday leave during A school where 1/2 the base comes home for Christmas week and the other 1/2 comes home for the New Year's week.
I think diannep was referencing an extra day of liberty for when a Federal holiday falls on the Monday after a PIR weekend. Columbus Day happens the week before your PIR, so it wouldn't apply~~

Yes, Katie, the ones in GL A School will have an extra day of Liberty!
Mama: Each base determines how they will do it. You may want to ask on the A School page how it was done last year. I don't believe they get a full 2 weeks....I believe it is more like a week and they have some do the first week and some do the 2nd week. They are allowed to go into "the hole" on the Leave Days in order to come home if they need to. I believe when they arrive at A School, they route a chit for the time they want. Just judging by what has been on this site over the past few years. The A School will educate the sailors specifically on each base. But, yes, most who want to get home sometime during the Christmas/New Years holiday period usually can.

Good morning :) I've heard conflicting information as to the specifics about Christmas (Exodus ??) liberty. My daughter is in the nuclear program and will be in GC, SC. Do you have information about "stand down" and how that will have something to do with Christmas time? Thanks, in advance!
