For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by New Navy Mom (Ship 14 Div 389) on August 24, 2013 at 11:57pm: Jmf1226 has it been announced that 4 guests can attend the 10/18 PIR? I went to the RTC website and it is not posted yet. That would be great if they allow us to bring 4 guests!!! Such an important event. I can't wait.

Comment by diannep on August 24, 2013 at 11:48pm: Form letters with graduation info/ship/division numbers can be received up until about 2-3 weeks into Bootcamp, so if you haven't received yours yet, it should be on its way soon.

Comment by diannep on August 24, 2013 at 11:46pm: Don't expect personal letters from them for a while. Takes about 2 weeks to get their Recruit Mail Petty Officer trained....and until then, any mail received up there is held for them. First delivery of mail is usually on a Sunday (held mail) and they usually can write for the first time then (2 weeks after arrival). Mailed out on Mondays from then on. But they will receive mail M-F after the initial 2 weeks.

There are still male-only divisions....and actually, there are some all-female divisions that have happened in past months. They may become more common in the future!

Each divisions has a brother division that they train with.

Comment by ellen0502 on August 24, 2013 at 11:43pm: Divisions can be all male, all female (starting this summer), or integrated. Brother divisions, and sister/brother divisions train together regardless of the make-up of the group. The 900 divisions train alone unless there are two of them per TG, same with the 800 divisions.

All of the ships are coed. Each division is assigned to a compartment. If the brother divisions are integrated, for night routine, sleeping and morning routine the females from one of the brother divisions and the males from the other switch sides.

Comment by Jessica_MF514 on August 24, 2013 at 11:16pm: AJ-AO that's awesome !! I'm very excited 4 guests are aloud to PIR. Anyone traveling from the east coast? I think we will be taking Amtrak, but overall planning the trip is a bit overwhelming. At least there's yet some time :)
