OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hi everyone. . . .just received my sons "form letter" today!  There's a lot going on in my life right now and it was a wonderful "good thing" to get that letter.  I'm getting excited for him even more now that I have more info!  God bless. . .

ellen:  LOVING the group picture you picked for this page!  So cute!

ArizonaNavyMom:  Stay here until you get confirmation through your form letter.  Most likely, this is your PIR group, but you never know!  In the meantime, you will learn lots by being on here.

Welcome to the new members here!

Please check out the 'pages' section under the MEMBERS PHOTO BOX up top and to the right for lots of info!  We may be adding to it as bootcamp goes along.

I am one of your N4Moms veteran team members, here to help.  Our names are listed up top....ellen is the one who started this group.  We are totally devoted to all of you "newbies" and will be on here lots to answer questions and guide you through.  Please ask any and all questions you have.  We never mind answering something more than once!  We want to try and keep your stress level down during this venture....because it can be an emotional rollercoaster.  We each are on about 6-8 PIR groups at once, so it can get very busy, but we try to check in often!

Glad you are here and prayers for your SRs!
