Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 10/26/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by butrfliesnstars on October 24, 2012 at 9:03am: Please pray for us that we have an easy flight with a 6 month old. Our flight leaves at 6 am. We will have to leave the house at 3am and his schedule is going to be screwed up. On a good note in 24 hours we will be in Chicago.
Safe travels for everyone and see some of you tomorrow evening.
Friday we will be with our Sailors!!

Thank you everyone for your support and friendship throughout these 9 weeks. It made it so much easier. And special thank you to the veterans for your time and support. You don't know how much it means to me!

I truly hope it all works out so you and your families can spend as much time as possible with your new Sailors :-) Travel safely and have a wonderful time.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on October 24, 2012 at 1:03am: I would just advise to be prepared for both scenarios, bring the cell phones etc that were requested by your Sailor's and know that the AP may not happen. Follow your Sailors lead. I hope it works out for the "better".
