OOOPS; Forgot the number below:
847-688-2405
PR Mami: Retired Military (with proper ID) have always been allowed in, not as part of the 4 guests...but you may want to call and check that out since they are changing policies apparently now....very sad....because...most of the new sailors do not have people there....that in itself is very sad but understandable...but obviously it makes for lots of space in the PIR Hall.
Here is the Public Affairs Office number, PR Mami, to call and doublecheck to see if that policy on retired military attending but not part of the 4 guests list has also changed.
As far as substitutions on the guest list, it would be too late for this group...unless, like was mentioned, the RDC allows the sailor to make the change...the lists probably were updated last week or the week before.
No they don't Angie...believe me I do get that. BUT their FAQ clearly states what is allowed as far as extra guests...so that's what people go on. Yes, they can change it at any time and I wasn't looking for a reason or an explanation. Don't need one, their rules. I only asked for a public update that there is a change in policy.
But that is a good point about them still ebing able to see them after PIR.
I have a Sailor!!
I agree that is terrible. With only 7 divisions graduating why would they deny a family member from being there. I have spoken to so many families who end up only taking "Mom and Dad" to PIR because it is too hard to tell one set of grandparents they can't go but the others can or to have to decide which siblings can go. I just don't understand the reasoning behind this. It truly breaks my heart. I will say that I would still take the extras since an official announcement has not been made yet. And, even if they can't get into PIR they can spend the rest of the day with their new Sailor. Hopefully they will make an official statement very soon.
Well, this is terrible...thank you to those of you who have called PAO to find out. I really wish that they would release a statement on their FB page though if this is going to be permanant.
Also, the FAQ's on their Official page need to be updated as it still has info on how extra's are handled.
As far as we know...Retired or Active military and Children 12 and under have never counted towards the four, so I can only guess that that still stands.

Hopefully since they have not made the annoucement publicly they will go ahead and let the extras in this time.
