Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME TO PIR 10/26/2012!

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by ProudMom on October 21, 2012 at 6:24pm: My call came in at 4:00 (GL time). I pulled into the driveway at 4:30 and my husband waved me in. I purposely left work early. He talked to her about 30 min and I talked about 20. I hope this helps.

Comment by diannep on October 21, 2012 at 5:50pm: cjbutler: After they complete BattleStations, there is a "capping" ceremony where they are awarded their NAVY ball caps. This is a highly emotional and rewarding ceremony for them. They are now sailors! They have other duties during the day, but light. They are allowed to nap, but only on the hard concrete floor (not allowed on the racks). They get to visit the NEX and buy energy drinks, candy, soft drinks, etc...items they were not allowed to have during bootcamp.

They can start making their I'm a Sailor calls that afternoon...by division. They can start as early as 2 pm GL time, but sometimes the calls come later. Some choose to purchase (small charge) internet time and will get on Facebook while waiting for their phone time, so be checking FB on the day you are expecting the call. The calls are normally much longer than previous calls during bootcamp.

They "hit their racks" 2 hours earlier that night...which is a welcome relief to them because they have been up since early the day before!
