OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Missing, I don't think he can keep it at PIR. He would have to give it to him at the airport or after he checks in at Great Lakes if that's where is he is going to A school.

Kim:  No problem!  Thanks for removing it!

Good Morning Ladies!

CeeJay:  He can take a few civilian clothes, but can't wear these until he has "phased up" in A School.  Usually about 3 weeks--which sounds like the length of time he will be there so he may not need the clothes---take them and let him decide.  He most likely can keep the laptop.  If not, he will lock it up until he can have it.  Hopefully his roommate has purchased internet service so he can use it.  Otherwise he would have to do this for the time he was there.

missingmygiant.  He is not allowed to wear anything on his dog tags but a small silver religious medal.  Enlisted can only have "silver."  Gold is reserved for officers.

As far as the necklace, that may be ok as long as it is worn hidden under his uniform.  But I wouldn't give him this until he is off of RTC.  Either at the airport if flying out, or once he has moved over to GL A School base.

missingmygiant-If I understand correctly, he can keep it, but until he is allowed to wear civilian clothes he most likely could not wear the necklace.

I cant go to PIR to see my love, and after being emotionally distraught about it for awhile now, and him being the same, I have finally accepted and dealt with the fact. However, now I am celebrating the fact that he will have a phone and our communication will be soo much easier, so that has become my new countdown, and all of the excitement from you ladies on here, I wanna live vicariously through you =). I only have access to this site using my phone and it's difficult to navigate the site and see some things, so I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked/answered here or even elsewhere, I am hoping someone here can answer it though. If I make a personalized necklace or dog tag for my guy and have his dad give it to him at PIR, will he be allowed to keep it and wear it?

Questions:

Should I bring my son civilian clothes for A school? -- he's going right across the street for 3 weeks.

Can I bring him his laptop?  (Well, I AM bringing it, but can he KEEP it?)

Thanks so much CeeJay45, I am so glad you love the ribbons and I can't wait to hear how your dad likes his :-) I know you all will wear them proudly.

We are bringing someone not on the list. Its a surprise so my SR doesn't know. I am so glad our group is so small that extras aren't going to be a problem.
Comment by Louisville Mom on October 19, 2012 at 10:00pm

My son said he would ask if he can change his list when I talked to him. He not sure he can do it but will try. Ask your son when he calls.
