Yes, butrfliesnstars: Brett has another surgery today...but no time yet. They are now worried about his kidney (bullet damaged one) and his lower right leg...the one the surgery was done for yesterday (artery in pelvis feeding that leg). But, he is still amazing the drs...I talked to his mom about an hour ago. The drs are blown away by Brett's strength and fight...and said they have never seen anything like it before. He should have been dead. The Lord is alive and well there in this family and situation, and they are such a testament to their beliefs.
The family made a YoutTube video to share with all on FB, but I can't see how to post it here. I posted the link and it said it was not available. Ugh...maybe someone can give me a hint on that? I'm not to good with stuff like that.
By the way, most of his Command personnel were there yesterday, in uniform (from the top down!) His mom said it was amazing...such a powerful force there in the hospital. The Navy Flight Dr is monitoring his treatment closely...
Thanks again everyone!
The recruiters have been amazing for me and my questions. According to them, the SR's got no sleep the night before BS21 and they were hungry and tired when they finished. They got taken to a room, had the cap ceremony, and then got lunch. He said they would probably sleep after that, so hope for a call today. And I wonder just how many phones they have? To give them all time maybe they need to break up the groups? I know, that doesn't explain 4 groups getting calls prior to yesterday and only 1 of 2 groups yesterday. But HANG IN THERE!
No call yet for me; my son is in Div. 346. The only reasons I can think of is that they went out of order, or, (let's hope this is not the case) they had to do it again. My phone will not leave my side! Fingers crossed that we hear today!!
Unfortunately, no Sarge's for us. We don't arrive until almost midnight. We're planning on following our SR's lead, if he wants to sightsee, eat, whatever but then it dawned on me, how would he know, he's never been here either.
Sharon if you are meeting your Sailor at the airport then I would go find some things to do in Chicago after he leaves. Lots of cool stuff to do there and great restaurants. I wish I had been able to sight see and go to the Navy Pier and museums and get some real Chicago Pizza. That would have been cool.
jay3jay: Oh, so sorry that they share the same name---kind of freaky I know...but take comfort in the fact that this Brett is very strong and a fighter...just like your SR is! So they share lots of traits! Brett is fighting for his life, and your Brett is fighting his way through bootcamp to become a sailor! HOOYAH!
Sharon: Will you be able to attend Sarge's MeetandGreet the night before PIR? He will have lots of info for you about lots of things...including things to do. Some take the train (station is right by RTC) into Chicago...train ride is cheap. Others go to the Gurnee Mall. There is lots to do around there.
