Thank you, Diannep!
Wow, Totopogo....I'm glad you were able to get back, but wow--what a journey. So glad that your home is ok, but so very sad about others in your area....just heartbreaking.
Finally made it home at 3:00 am this morning. On the laptop with the Modem on a generator- We live on the Jersey Shore in Middletown, NJ and although our home is unscathed, many in my town are homeless as I type this. It was a wonderful graduation, and to hug him was one of the best moments in my life. We got to spend time with him on Friday, and had a wonderful day with him on Saturday, but had to say goodbye to him on Sunday morning at 7:00 am; had to get to the airport and try to get an earlier flight back. No dice! No flight, and we missed the opportunity to have a whole day with our son. Ended up staying at a hotel for two days outside the airport. Then on Tuesday the airline said we MIGHT get a flight back home on November 2. (I can't blame them, the extent of this storms is truly catastrophic in scope). Well that was that and we rented a car yesterday morning and drove east. Took us 17 hours. Being with our son made the stress and expense insignificant; Wouldn't trade it for the world. So proud.
jay3jay: WONDERFUL! Japan is actually one of their favorite destinations....start saving those "coins" to go visit him! Congrats!
diannep - I thought that I would give you an update. Your last post to me reminded me that no news was good news. You were right. My boy graduated on time AND he had liberty the whole weekend so I got to spend 3 days with him. It was wonderfull. Now I just have to prepare myself because he was stationed in Japan and will be gone for 3 years. GULP!
Ditto butrfliesnstarts. I took a group pic of the guys leaving on the 12:45 flight to Groton. About 7 of the 12 in the shot.
SoccerMom: Pray that you all survived the storm ok in NY...video on GMA is heartbreaking of some areas and so sorry to hear that at least 17 have died so far. Thankful for the preparation that was in place for this storm or it could have been even worse....prayers for all affected by this storm.
