~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Does anyone  know when div 347 goes through hell week

Oh boy, JPzMom:  I'm so very sorry.  The guest list will be updated by your SR about a week before PIR.  So even if you were not on the list, he could put you there.  Your best bet is to write him and make sure you are on the list or will be when he updates.

Most of the info you need re: Bootcamp/PIR is on the following website so please be sure to read through it:

http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/index.asp

Hotels you may want to consider staying at are:

Navy Lodge (book in your SR's name if you do not have military ID yourself)  About a mile from RTC

Residence Inn, Springhill Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Courtyard - all of these are close together about 4-5 miles from RTC and close to Sarge's MeetandGreet held the night before PIR for you all.  You will find his info to the left on this page, under the EVENTS section.  Call these hotels directly and ask for the Navy Graduation discount.  They only have a few rooms at this rate, but hopefully still have some left.

Please ask any questions you have here.  Just know that many times, families do not receive the form letter for one reason or another.  If you plan to drive, your SR will need to give you the password to download the gate pass, but if you will take a shuttle ($2 round trip from Navy Lodge; $3/pp each way from other hotels courtesy of Sarge's shuttle service or the local one).....you do not need the gate pass.  You also can drive and park off base at the train station, which is about 1/4 mile past RTC and not need the gate pass.  So no worries.

Please ask us any questions you like.  We will be glad to help you.

JPzMom .. Yes there is a guest list, my SR is PIR 10-31-14 too and can invite 4 people to attend.  Write to your son and make sure he has you and your daughter on the list and hopefully you'll receive a phone call from your SR to confirm.

Looking for suggestions. The form letter went to my sons Dads house. He has fought me for years for custody and is resentful. My son called me to tell me the graduation date of 10-31, and asked me to get the form letter from his Dad so I can book my trip for my daughter and I to come. His Dad is refusing to give me the form letter and has told me that my son did not put me on the attendee's list. This is not true. I called his recruiter and he said his hands are tied. Does anyone have a suggestion? Is there an attendee list?

I'm pretty heartbroken as this is definitely not something my son would do. If I can't attend, he will think I didn't come to support him. Ideas?

Shelley  I am happy you found a gift solution.

Shelley,

So glad you found something special on that list!!

CJsNvymom...thank you for your kind suggestion.  I am hoping that his GF will be able to attend PIR but I think she was counting on someone in the family also going.  If she cannot, it would be nice to think that someone would adopt my son for the weekend.  He is staying in the GL so I know he will have some time on his hands.

MDESFRED...thank you so much for your willingness to help!  CatMom sent out the gift list and there is a care package on the list that can be sent straight to my SR.

Comment by Shelley on October 6, 2014 at 9:44am

CatMom...thank you for the gift list.  I have decided on the Care Package.  What a wonderful idea and practical since he will be staying in the GL for "A" School.
