N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

You can stay at the Navy Lodge and it is a great place to stay. You do have to make your reservation in your SRs name and that is not a problem, your SR is your sponsor. Call them directly and let them know you are coming for graduation.

I see people are booking reservations at the navy lodge. Can anyone book a reservation there or just navy veterans? Or book it in my sr name?

Katxmom, hang in there!!! That is very bad news, but like you said, when one door closes, another one opens. Hopefully this will lead to great things for your son, and he will be much happier when he calls in 2 days!!

Hi Friends,

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,

and He delights in his way.  Though he fall,

he shall not be utterly cast down,

for the Lord upholds him with His hand."

Well, I got the call and it wasn't a good one. He didn't get CTN security clearance and sounded defeated. He doesn't know what's going to happen now. What job the are going to offer him? Score a 295 on ASVAB and has a 6 year contract. I tried to cheer him up and let him know that when one door closes another one opens.  He did say they are getting phone calls in 2 days.

It would be great if SR's could add family members of others, but I believe someone else posted that SR's are not allowed to do that anymore.  It is hard to limit it to only 3 people.  We have a complicated family situation also.  Seeing as how this is my stepson, there are 2 different families involved, along with his girlfriend.  My daughter's will not be able to attend to see their brother, but they will be in the hotel watching it online.  That way at least they can watch the ceremony without being there.

Katxmom, at least you didn't miss the call because you were out gettin the mail or something stupid like that. Our sons are in brother divisions. My son is ship 9, div 417. I CANNOT WAIT for a call!!! I will be so excited I hope I don't cry!!!

So I am going to throw this out there....when my older son graduated it was possible for SR's who did not fill up their guest list to add a family member from another SR.  If we officially can only bring 3 - if there is anyone willing to have their SR add one of our family members to their list, it would be GREATLY appreciated.  I hope I am not coming across a presumptuous here - we have a complicated family situation:)

So I've been reading online about Liberty after graduation. My eldest brother graduated in 2000 and back then, they were allowed to stay over night with their families. Now, after graduation, they don't allow that. Ugh! Not so much fun, especially for married couples!
