N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Thanks Diannep - since I didn't get to talk to him just hearing what he said via his girlfriend, not sure he is the head PO, maybe for the mail, since he will be being going to Logistics A-School in MS when done in Great Lakes.  Very proud of him not matter what position ;)  He always the one that would stand up and volunteer for things!   Thanks for all the support here - cried for like 2 hrs knowing I didn't get to talk to him, but then I went over in my head what his GF had said and he was talking about A-School and probably coming home if he could to visit so that tells me he knows there is an end to this training and moving on to the next - he knows he will make it!!

You're welcome!!  :D

CP-KW:  Head PO would mean head petty officer (recruit).  They usually rotate some in and out of those positions...that one is a huge honor!  Here is the link to the RTC site that explains the Recruit leadership positions:

Melinigsmom:  They are issued a Recruit Cash Card when they get there that they can use for supplies.  He can buy a phone card at the NEX.  But if you want to mail him one, that would save him some money too!  Also, many times, the SRs are kind and will let another SR borrow their card to call home until they get their own.  So hopefully that would not be a reason for your SR to miss calling.

I'm starting to get nervous from hearing all of the comments about calling cards. My sons recruiter told me to send him with nothing other than an ID and social security card. Nothing else. So I never thought to send calling cards. So does that mean he will not be able to call at the time the rest of his group is calling??? :-((
