OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

For those staying at the Quality Inn in Waukegan. I called to see what time their shuttles run on Friday morning for PIR. They said 6:45 and you sign up for the shuttle when you check in. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't earlier.

I think we all figured it out. Wishful thinking on the 5/5 it was 4/2 on this past Monday. TY Dianne.

Hmmmm.....I'm thinking more like 4-3 or 4-4 today, 503 808.  Training week count, not bootcamp week.  That would put them on track for BattleStations in a couple of weeks.

Thanks CatMom509 for the Hugs.  And thank KatXmom for your story.. I feel a little relieved now that I/he wasn't the only one.   I was so stressed yesterday after my SRs call and nearly in tears (just being a mom I guess)...because he sounded very worried. He wants CTN too and is awaiting additional clearance.  I paid the bill .. it was a small amount and I know there is nothing else out there.  I know God puts us on a path and like you said... No news is good news.  Keeping the faith right now. :)

Missy Blue - Ship 11 Div 420 is on Week 4 Day 1 today.  They were "pushed" up 1 week, but will finish with the rest of the divisions for the PIR 11/1.  I am so excited!!
