to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

A lady who just attended yesterday's PIR said that SARGE told them the change in no longer allowing extras and making sure the guests on the list are the only ones allowed in was made because of the terrorist threat made on the Federal Building recently.  They have tightened security now onto the base.

That makes me very sad for the families and the sailors. I have four children and my sailor is in position of which of his brothers cannot attend. V sad

No, they were not allowed in, daizygirl.  In fact, one dad showed up with his 15 yr old son (sailor's brother).  The mom/dad are divorced.  Mom, dad, and brother had been on the guest list originally, but apparently the sailor thought that his brother being only 15 meant he didn't have to list him on there (it is actually 12 and under don't need to be on the list--they automatically get in).  So, when he updated his list before PIR, he took his brother's name off.  Sad...because they wouldn't let the brother in...so therefore the dad didn't go because he stayed with the brother--they returned to the hotel.  Neither got to see PIR.  Horrible....and they weren't even extras!    They are going strictly by the names on the guest list (updated one).  So...if a name is not on there, the person will not get in.  There is no "holding" area for those denied entrance...they tell you to return to your car.  Very sad change in rules....but more tightened security, I guess, and puts the control of the guests attending strictly in the hands of the sailors, as it really should be.  But still sad that no more guests can "surprise" their new sailors as has been done in the past.

Did anyone hear yet if extras were able to get in to pir yesterday?

Sigh....Lala.  What to do?  I sure hope that NC and VA don't get the storm...wish no one wo here in Miami...strong squalls, then peace, then another, etc...but thankfully, no real damage.  Praying for those who could be in "Sandy's" path!

Hi Ladies,  I attended PIR today and saw div #351 marching.  They looked great.  The SR "singing" the cadence has a beautiful voice!  It was almost as she was singing, Left, Right, Left...

I am betting right now you guys are watching this storm closer than anyone on this site. I hope those traveling from the east coast don't experience travel delays and you all will be in my thoughts and prayers.
