~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

BearsMom,

For the most part, the new Sailors do get bussed to the airports during the early hours (12:30 am and on) of Saturday morning and flights depart throughout the day.  Occasionally though, a group of Sailors fly out on Sunday due to not enough tickets to fly a group out--it's unpredictable though.  Plan to leave Saturday evening or Sunday evening "just in case" if you can afford it~

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on October 20, 2014 at 11:13am

BearsMom, None of them get a week liberty. Most of those who fly out for A-school do so on Saturday and a few will fly out on Sunday. We recommend staying until at least Sunday just in case you get that extra day :)

Good morning everyone!

thanks CatMom :)

For those asking to join the facebook group. It looks like several found the wrong group. I want to make sure you are in the right group so I can get to know everyone since I will be at your meet and greet. The facebook group that has  "new" in the title is not our group. Our groups usually have a lot more members as well. We have had the PIR groups for about 3 years at least and we have several admins who all have sailors and we closely monitor the groups. We do our best to make sure all those asking to join have a recruit in that PIR group. Our group is private and no one can see anything posted there unless they are a member of that group. But no matter what group or anyplace online don't post any personal info and always obey OPSEC. Here is the link to your facebook group :) Just remember to always stay active on this group as well.

Question, my son was under the impression that he would not be leaving for A school right away.  He thought he had like a week of Liberty.  This was before he left for boot camp though.  I am not sure where he got that info.  Does pretty much everyone leave that day or weekend?

Mail this on an index card to your recruit if they are flying out to another base on PIR weekend. Once they get their itinerary they should fill it out and then give it to you at PIR. They won't have this info in time to mail it; they receive the details in their hard copy of orders and itinerary the week of graduation. They go back to their ship and rack to check out and that is when they should grab it so remind them. This will keep you from ending up at the wrong airport or airline gate.

Please fill this out when you get your final orders and then give it to us at PIR. Do not mail it.
