OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Really wish I had more than the no news is good news mantra. Been climbing the walls since I got that back today. Thank for checking me, I stared at it for hours today.

Well, that is legitimate, lonesome.  So I don't understand that.

jerZeymom:  Sent you info in a friend request....don't hit ACCEPT or the info goes away.

The mail sent to your SRs should not be returned unless there is an error in the address that they can't figure out.  We have been told that mail will be forwarded to the SRs at A School, so should not be returned because "no more mail should be delivered."

Without putting your recruit's name on here, can you post the addresses you were mailing too?  Just so we can verify with the ship addresses on the RTC site.

Catmom, I always get it wrong when I stick my neck out on here to make an educated guess. I'm certain I wudnt pass bootcamp. I thought battlestations was a surprise in the night to them glad they have been able to prepare a little mentally for when it was coming.
Comment by CatMom509 on November 4, 2015 at 4:08pm

The SRs should know when they and their brother divisions will be doing Battlestations about a week prior to it.  It yours shares it in a letter, please only private message each other for the details.  You can say, "I have the BS date for division ___.  Please private message for it"  on this main comment wall~~
