OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Peace:  You are welcome!

Classycalicat:  No, not likely that your sailor will be able to leave for Thanksgiving. He certainly will not be able to fly home....it is possible if he has phased up, he could leave base locally for the day, but that will depend on how long it takes for him to phase up for that.  He won't know that until he goes through INDOC upon arrival at A School base.  So the most you could hope for is that you could go to HIM and spend the day with him, even if on base.

I am also wondering if my SR / Sailor will have Liberty for Thanksgiving.  And if so how many days, so I can get him a flight home. He is at A school at Great Lakes.

Thank you in advance!

I actually got to see my SR from the live stream last Friday and I'll watch again this Friday. It's was good to watch and get an idea of what it looks like and how things go.

Me too ... Praying for all of your kids! Can't wait to get the call. And can't wait to be there next week!! We get to say "next week" :-)

Peace:  Most will call on Fri afternoon....unless they have "watch" and can't call until the next day.  Calls can start around 2pm Central and go for a while.

Good Morning!    Thanks for the info.  So if the have Battle Stations that start Thursday night they will call on Friday?  Or Saturday?    Just wanting to be clear since this is an overnight thing.  Thanks
