...I should clarify that they will not be allowed entrance into PIR Hall BEFORE PIR.  After it is over, the extras in the Chapel may be allowed to go in there to hug their sailors, but there is only about 10 mins after PIR is over before they will clear the Hall.

Good Morning!

Welcome meandap!  RTC allows some of the extras to come onto base and watch the Livestream in the Chapel.  I checked directly with them about this a while back, and they said they encourage extras to please stay off base and watch the Livestream at their hotels, but for those who need to be near family for some reason, they will try to accommodate them in the Chapel. They can join your groups after PIR concludes.  There is NO WAY they will be allowed entrance into PIR Hall, so just understand that.  But they can meet up with you when it is over.

Also, ChelseysMom, if you would like to start a Basket Raffle to Sarge's Meet & Greet here, you can give him a call to let him know the Navy for Moms PIR group would be bringing in baskets too.  Call him at 847-212-0246, then create a discussion entitled as above or something like it.  Next, make an announcement here to let the ladies know if they want to participate, they can answer in the Discussion up in the Forum~~

ChelseysMom,

There are different ways to put together the baskets.  Seems that the Facebook group only wants to do a limited amount of baskets where everyone brings a little something and it is put into a combined basket.  Another idea and the one that is done the most is for each person who wants to donate a basket to do a state themed one or a coffee one or a goodies/snack one or cooking one or whatever and bring it in or the items into Great Lakes, then get a basket/bag/container from the SuperWalmart or some other store.  One of the recent groups brought in 50 baskets this way.  Not every PIR group does this basket project and it sure is appreciated by Sarge when it happens~~  All the baskets are raffled off with tickets being purchased then placed in a container in front of the basket that a person wants.

Hello everyone!!! Thank you for allowing me to join this group. We are so excited and proud of our recruit SR Fletcher. We understand that he can only have 4 attendees at graduation, but we were told that Other family members may watch from another area on a screen. Does any one have any information about this?

Whoohoo, got our 2nd call from our SR tonight.  He is ship 13, div 007!  He called us last Saturday so I wasn't expecting a call so soon but it was perfect.  We were all able to chat with him, even his girlfriend happen to be with us.  He sounds 100% better then last week.  He said his division was doing great so they were able to have phone calls again.  We also got the first letter from him and that was wonderful.  He has received a few of ours but not all of them yet.  I feel so much better after talking to him tonight and I didn't even cry until I hung up.  I was pretty proud of myself......;-)  Nov. 14th can't come soon enough!!  If you haven't written, write.  He said that it is very important and helped the Sailors get through this a little easier.

ChelseysMom:  To add to CatMom's post, Navy Lodge just started running their own shuttle service....we understand it is $2/pp roundtrip which is a great rate!  They leave on PIR morning at 6, 6:30, 7, 7:30.  Not sure about the return times.

We took the shuttle from our hotel to/from PIR.  Worked out great.  We drove our sailor back that night and actually were allowed to drive onto the base with him.  This was almost 5 yrs ago, so not sure if that has changed.  Be sure not to misplace your form letter....it should have the password in it (in your SR's handwriting) for the gate pass.  Like CatMom said, be checking the RTC upcoming graduation page when it is about 2 weeks before PIR.  If there is a "Get Gate Pass" prompt by your grad date, it is ready to download/print---just click on it!  Be sure to type the password in ALL CAPS.

I think I saw this on the Facebook site. Let me know if that means things are squared away for it, I'm not sure what is needed yet to set this all up, but let me know. On facebook this was Posted by Diane Kuliczkowski Lewis  Division Baskets for PIR 11-14-14 for Sarge's Meet and Greet, On Thursday November 13. There are 9 baskets to fill: 001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006, 007, 008,and My Favorite 901. If you would like to contribute something to your Div. Basket, bring it to the meet and greet on Thursday, there will be containers to collect the items with your Division number on it.
We talked about home state items, homemade items(Cookies..LOL), home crafted items, or items from the area you are coming from. The options are endless, and all proceeds will go to the future PIRs at the Meet and Greet!

CatMom509 - I thought someone had started putting together a basket already, I'm just not clear is there one large combined for all ship/divisions graduating on 11-14-14 or does each ship/div put one together? I will check where I read something on it... I know I read something about putting together one with gifts from each of the home states to represent states each came from. Let me know
