Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Got letters in the mail yesterday :)) Last I talked to my girl, was Friday the 11th.. She's still exhausted but upbeat about all of the things she's learning! She said she was also sad to see some of the girls leave.

MontanaMom:  I agree with ellen that the shuttles are a bit more costly, but if you really are afraid to drive around there (and I agree with ellen, it really isn't bad)...here is Sarge's contact info:  847 212 0246  or email

johnspadaro@att.net

I am a S FL girl...have no clue how to drive in snow.  My son PIRed one Feb...I was scared to death to drive up there then.  Rented an SUV and had my older son with me (although he has never driven in snow either, he has his commercial drivers license so I figured would do better than me!).  As it was, although there was snow everywhere, the roads are kept very clear and we only had flurries when we were there. And....I did most of the driving!  :-)

Good Morning All !

MontanaMom, Sarge will be happy to shuttle you around for the weekend, but...you will find a rental car to be much less expensive. You will be fine driving, it isn't as bad as it sounds. :)

Hello gals, no letter here today either but will keep my fingers crossed for tomorrow, :) Last week our letter came on friday and one on saturday.

Just wondering how most people are planning to get around while at PIR....we are flying in to O'Hair (Southwest does not even fly in to Montana...shucks) so this was our best price. My daughter will go to SA for A school after PIR....so I'm trying to figure out how to get around easiest for my Mom and I -to hotel Quality Inn, Sarges M & G (are there shuttles) then to airport to sit with our SR until she flys out.....back to hotel then again to O hair Sun to fly out. Does Sarge have shuttles to all of this? I'm a bit of a scaredy cat to drive in the big city traffic.

I don't comment a lot on here but I read them all.  Such wonderful people you are all.  Does anyone have a relative on ship 13 Div 007?

Comment by proudnavymom2013 on October 17, 2013 at 9:13pm

I have received two letters and one phone call. My sons girlfriend and my ex-husband has received several letters too. Of course the girlfriends are much longer than ours.  However, he isn't getting my letters or his ex-step father's letters.  He received the first round we sent but nothing since then.  He is getting his girlfriends letters. We all three are using the same address. Anyone else letters not getting to their SR

So the address change must go for ship 12 div 003 as well?
