N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Darinsmom:  You will have the remainder of PIR day with your sailor.  He will have to be back at RTC by 8 or 9 that night.  Hopefully he won't have "watch" !  If you can book your return on Sunday, just in case, then you won't miss any Liberty with him if he doesn't leave until Sunday.  Sometimes they do leave on Sundays if there are flight scheduling problems.

Darinsmom...your Sailor will have liberty until a specified time on 11/15. I think it is usually until 8-9pm. After they are transported to the airport the next day, usually very early in the morning, you can go to the airport and spend time with him until his flight leaves for Pensacola. I hope this helps.

I made my flight arrangements to include the weekend just in the event my son has some time to visit.  He is scheduled to attend a school on the east coast.

Ok, I've tried to find this on my own BUT.....my SR graduates 11/15 and is going to A school in Pensacola after. I know he will leave 11/16, day after PIR but how do I find out if we get to spend anytime with him after PIR and before he leaves again? I know he could have duty so it just wait and see until PIR?

Thank you! This helps with our travel arrangements!

Sailors staying in GL for A School will have approx one hour after PIR before they have to go back to their ship on the RTC and move over to the TSC side. This processes can take several hours, and your sailor will call you when s/he is ready to leave for the rest of the day. Be sure to answer every phone call as another sailor may allow your sailor to use their cell phone. Your sailor will have until approx 10pm with you on Friday.

On Sat and Sun your sailor will have from approx 6am to 10pm for liberty, and again, they will call you when ready to leave.

Sailors cannot be late getting back to their ships at night, so plan on returning them early.

Keep your parking pass from PIR, you may be able to use it to help you drive on to base to return your sailor in the evening.

Brandonsmom - thank you! Also, I am booking our trip but not sure when I should set the return date. The recruiter advised us that he would attend A school in GL so does that mean we will be able to see him all weekend or just right after PIR? Help?!? :)

Kmagill - my son is in that division and I haven't received a call. I haven't seen where anyone from Ship 03/Div 009 has. Hopefully this weekend we will hear something from them. I can't wait to hear his sweet voice!!

Hi everyone I am one of the volunteers here to help you through this experience :)  I know how hard this is for so many of you. And as hard as it is to believe the boot camp time will pass pretty quickly. I always say the days drag by but the weeks pass quickly. I was a mess when my daughter was there. I didn’t have much time to prepare as she was only in DEP one month and then she was gone. I was always wondering what she was doing and how she was. But it all turned out great and it is so hard for me to believe it has been more than three years. Now she is a Sailor and is married to a Sailor and they just had their first baby/my first grand baby :) She was born July 24th and I was there <3 She is simply perfect and has already stolen my heart. :) After more than three years on this site I am still here helping others get through this experience and I love it. If you have any questions or concerns please just let us know. We are here to help you :) And please feel free to send me a friend request if you like. I am happy to help in any way I can.
