OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

@diannep  You've been absolutely awesome through this whole process. I think it's fair to say the only thing we know for certain, is no one knows for certain and we just wait. It's either today or tomorrow we hear... nbd.  Thanks for all you do. :)

Ok, thanks, Eliza....moving forward now...hoping that 3 or 4 divisions get calls this afternoon!  :-)

dianne:  I was not referring to what you had said with days and times.  You have been great.  I am fine about the whole thing.  It is not upsetting me.  My SR is very laid back and I know he is fine.  There are other ladies reading posts that are a little upset.  There are a lot of posts without any documentation pure speculation.

Thank you very much for helping us all through this new chapter of our lives.

:)

The last night of BattleStations for this group should be tonight...so whoever didn't go last night will be going through tonight.  The next PIR group starts tomorrow night.

Comment by diannep on November 12, 2013 at 3:04pm

Eliza:  YIKES!  Ok, I took my lashes from you.  So very sorry for the confusion....I have been keeping tabs on BattleStations for close to 4 yrs now on this site...I post the schedule in each and every PIR group after they have gone through.  I always check back to see how others went through.  So very sorry that I mislead those in 901....its just that normally, 900 divisions go on Monday nights...was trying to be helpful....so sorry if I created a problem.

Remember, we N4Moms veterans are on here to help you all, but please allow for us to make mistakes sometimes....   :-)

Ok, ladies, very possible that 005-008 went through rather than adding 901.  Just going by what I was told and what they have done in past groups...but since the holiday moved them back a day...901 may not have gone yet.

Sorry for the confusion!

You got that right!  I've been on the verge all day.

Absolutely beautiful Cynthia!!  But there is NO WAY I can not shed tears, they just fall out, oh so crying AGAIN!!
