I got a call for security info early on and it had "US GOVERNMENT" (That's all, no 847 with it) as the caller ID. So that ID is not necessarily always bad news.
I agree with LaLa...answer all and get rid of telemarketers or block the number. Also, just an FYI...recrutis may not receive calls at RTC so do not call the number back if you miss it.
If it is for information, and they still need it, they will call back (most times they do not leave a message for information) but if it is a "recreational" call a call back is not guaranteed :-(.
my Sailor got to call once from an RDC's office because she had missed a call after having wisdom teeth pulled. I know it didn't show the area code. It showed up as either "restricted" or "private" on the caller ID I can't remember for sure which one it was. I almost didn't answer it because I didn't think it was her. So glad I did answer when I heard her voice :-) I would answer ever call when they are in bootcamp. If you get a call from a number and find out it is someone you don't want to talk to you can save the number in your phone as "Don't Answer" or "Ignore" and that will give you a chance to dismiss the call quickly so it doesn't tie up your line lol.
Martiheg: I agree with SEA's mom. Don't think the restricted call was from GL. . My son called for info once....I missed the call (cell).... had the number so I googled it. It was a 847 number and came up as the medical center. YIKES! Turned out that there was a question on his medical info, that they ended up solving without me.
Martiheg-when you get a call from your SR, you will see one of two things. the caller ID says U.S. Govt with an 847 area code then it will be something you don't want to hear (trust me). Either they are ill, asmoed, or haven't passed some test they have to pass to graduate.
If the caller I.D. says "Pay Phone" with an 847 area code then your SR has gotten permission/treat to call home and talk to his or her family. If it says restricted call-well probably a political survey but not your SR
Hi everyone, we made it home late last night from VA Beach. We had a great time visiting our Sailors but just not enough time spent with them. Hurricane Sandy was a pretty big concern so we came home a day early. Now expecting snow here at home. Could be just a trace and some areas 7 to 10 inches. It all depends on which "expert" you listen too lol. I hope you all are far away from the storm and if you are in it's path please be safe. You all are in our prayers.
martiheg, a call could come from a restricted number but not usually. If it was normal call he probably would have left a message or called another family member. I hope you get your call today :)
Prayers for Brett today and every day Dianne. Keep us posted.
Sunny and 50 degrees right now...little breazy...pretty nice day so far. tomorrow waits to be seen.
AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGH!!! I think I missed a call from my son yesterday. :'(
I was sitting right next to my cell phone, and must have had the volume turned off, when I saw that there had been a call from "Restricted number". I briefly wondered who that might have been and didn't think much past that. But today I see so many of you mentioning calls yesterday, and now I'm wondering if that was him. I was totally expecting an 847 area code. Has anyone else gotten their call from "restricted number"?
Hope everyone is having a Blessed and awesome Monday!! Here's to our SR's !! HOOYAH!! Almost there!! Getting excited!! JT said they are also getting excited and finally comming together as a team!! YEAH YEAH YEAH!! He also wrote his girl friend and said when they were getting ready for inspetions the girls were ironing everybodies shirts and all the guys were polishing shoes... He said he was soooo glad he didn't have to iron because he can never get all the wrinkles out... LOL!! So thanks mom's of the girls!! :)
Good Morning Ladies!
Thanks for the prayers, Erika!
