To the genius behind the Boot Camp Questionnaire, THANK YOU!! My SR completed and returned it to me and said he loved it. I guess Ninjas haven't crossed his path yet because his question to me was "what ninjas?".
Morning all. Gabby64, I don't think my SR was being selfish when saying this but I was instructed, no bad news while in BC. I'm with Diannep, it's your call but I would honestly wait. He has a lot going on right now and since he's almost at the finish line, you really don't want him to lose focus.
my son also told me we will get to see him the night before and he said one of his instructors told him that i never heard of that when my other son graduated we didn't get to see him the day before im confused is he mistaken
Gabby: If at all possible, it is best to try and keep this private until after BattleStations are done, at least---and you get the I'm a Sailor call....even better if you can hold off until after PIR. Especially if you think the news will upset him because he may lose his focus in bootcamp. But the "call" is yours, of course, since you know him best. I know it is hard for you not to be able to share this with him and have his support during a difficult time, but he is in the final weeks of bootcamp which are difficult and require total focus. So, just really think about it....then do what you feel is best.
Without this site, and these ladies, and Sarge :) ... I would be lost! Thank you!!
janarama: For some reason, every now and then, some of the SRs are told that they will get to see their families the night before PIR. That is not true...yes, like FTLW said, that used to be done, but it was a very long time ago. I have been on this site since 2009 and it wasn't being done then. But the rumor flies around...you will have to wait until PIR to see your new sailor.
Heather: Marlinspike is a life size model ship where they practice mooring, line handling, putting out to sea, and other aspects of basic seamanship.
Thank you, FTLW, for the info. I am concerned now, that I should possibly change my arrangements now while I still can, to allow for the possibility of that time. I am not sure I can afford the extra day, but of course it would be worth it if we could see her, or even get to see things on base the day before.
I'm in Div 8,I got a letter on Tuesday. It was dated the 14th so idk how the mailing is going to work since right now it seems I am a week behind in every letter.
