OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the time
to read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

diannep: that's great news - it sounds like the most dangerous part has past, but it's still going to be a long haul. We'll keep praying, don't you worry about that!  That picture is absolutely precious! How cool that they have the same hair cut!  :)

Thanks so much, Lala.  Saw your post on the video.  Thanks so much for doing that!  Hoping for a good day for him today...and that he will wake up soon, flash is milllion dollar smile, which will give such peace to his family/friends there with him.

Here is a pik of him with his young son:

It is so good to read that Brett is on the road to recovery. Prayer is a wonderful thing and I am so moved by all the support for him and his family. More prayers going out for him each and every day.

I willl martiheg:  They are so grateful to all who are praying for them.  They literally have prayer support across the country!  They are a wonderful family.  They just posted a pik of those family/friends (most all from out of town) at the hospital with Brett...and there were at least 25 to 30 people there.  His mom, my good friend, had such a sad look on her face (so NOT her) in both the pik and in the video.  Her heart is so broken...but he is holding his own.  Hoping that he is done with surgeries (3 in 48 hours is enough...losing most of his colon, a kidney, aorta repair, and major artery bypass repair to artery in leg so they could save his leg...amongst other things.)  He is heavily sedated still, but hopefully will be coming out of it in the next couple of days....thanks so much for the prayers!

Thanks Martiheg, I can't wait:)

And diannep - please thank Brett's family for their video. They have SO much to deal with right now and it was very generous of them to put their anxiety aside for a while and to take precious time away from being at the hospital to do that for us. The tremendous love and strength they provide each other came across and that is what will get them through these rough days.

Dina0106, you had GREAT news too - a little boy!! Congrats! I hope your husband's phone call comes ASAP - if the SRs live for mail, imagine what THAT phone call will do!

Stress fractures suck. They're painful and they sneak attack up on you I swear. *hugs* He'll get through this.

Comment by martiheg on October 20, 2012 at 5:26pm

And Momanddadofmatt4, (I'm a mom-of-Matt too) I'm SO sorry to hear your Matt has stress fractures and worse, that his stay at BC is another 4 weeks! And worser, that you and your husband won't be able to see him for yet ANOTHER 4 weeks!! I know what a torture that will be for you. Prayers for a speedy heal are being sent out . . .

Comment by martiheg on October 20, 2012 at 5:20pm

That's GREAT news, diannep! No high blood pressure, no leg issues, no infection, no more surgeries ~ I never thought I'd be so happy to hear the word "no"!! Now lot's of healing and rehab. But if he could make it through boot camp (at HIS age, LOL), he can make it through that! Continuing with prayers anyway . . . just for an extra boost.
