For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME to PIR 11/16/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by ellen0502 on October 18, 2012 at 1:25am: Mom&Dad4MattJ, They have moved SRs to a different ship before. It can be due to a maintenance issue, or perhaps shifting due to incoming SRs etc..

It does seem a little odd that nobody else has mentioned that the division or brother division is moving though. I would ask him in your next letter to clarify the moving as well as the ship and division number. I would still send it to the original address you were given.

Comment by diannep on October 17, 2012 at 10:18pm: Ladies, please pray for one of our sailors, Brett, who I have known his whole life (his mom is my good friend). He is the one who influenced my son to join. He is based in Jacksonville FL and was shot in the stomach today when trying to intervene in an attempted mugging. He is in surgery now...his mom/hubby driving the 6 hours to get to him...has a 8 mo pregnant wife and 1.5 yr old son. Please pray that he will be ok! What a heroic thing he did...not surprising though if you know what a great guy he is!
