For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

WELCOME to PIR 11/16/2012

OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance. Please take the timeto read the OPSEC and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names of Sailors/Recruits are not allowed on this site. If it is in your username you will need to change your username. If yours is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on October 17, 2012 at 8:35am: Good Morning Everyone! I will be back on later tonight. Yesterday I was running my mom around all day to doctor's visits. Today we are doing some Christmas (yes, I did say Christmas, lol) shopping all day. My mother always has her shopping finished by the end of Oct. She puts me to shame every year. I am very happy that, at least right now, she is healthy enough to enjoy these things. She does have some major health problems, so we are fortunate to be able to do these things. I live an hour and a 1/2 away and would love to have a salior that was training the same time as my son visit with us when he can!! If he needs anything please let him know I will do my best to help out!!

Dina: So very sorry....but make sure that your SR orders the PIR DVD ($29, I think) so that you can see the ceremony later. It will be mailed out about 3-4 weeks after PIR. Take care of yourself!
