heatherT I am in SC too!!!! :) small world
Good morning to all....
Well reservations are officially finalized! As we were trying to figure out the most economical way for us to go with our daughters we realized, we have miles thru United Airlines that we can use to pay for hotel and car rental....sooo that's what we did...rented a car/truck and we are driving from New Jersey...ROAD TRIP!! Best Western (Gurnee, IL) stay for 4 days for 4 people = 40k miles plus $16.00 , truck rental for 5 days = 30k miles....the family attending PIR......PRICELESS!! 37 days and counting … I cant wait!!
I have a question.... Is division 09/003 a mixed division?? I saw where someone posted last night their daughter was in it??? I didn't realize this... I am just wondering. Thought it was an all male group. But, if not HOOYAH!! Go get 'em girls !! :) Just wondering....
BURRR 36 degrees in Chicago today!! Hope they dress warm!! I bet JT is loving it!! He loves cold weather!! We don't get much around SC... :) But he was always out in it and it so invigorated him!! He would rather it be cold than anything else! Never could figure out how he could wear shorts in the coldest part of winter (of course that like 36 degrees in January at the coldest )lol... He said it felt great!! Bet he isn't wearing shorts today!! HAHa!! Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!! God bless you all and our SR's!
Yep, the old "ricky crud." My son was a guy who never got sick...very blessed to have good health his whole life. But he got it when he was there. Said he didn't want to go to Medical for fear of being held back....and the RDCs gave him some light duty for a day or two. Sometimes moms are shocked to find out after the fact that their SRs ended up with pneumonia (like FTLW's did) and were actually hospitalized briefly....but don't worry, ladies. They keep a great eye on yours SRs medically and are taking good care of them! My son said they were able to go get a "z pack" (is that what it's called?) to help with the crud.
Good Morning All!
Sickness or the "Ricky (slang for Recruit) Crud" is common in BC. My son had it and then pneumonia (just had several SIQ days and 1 LLD day. PIR'd on time!) and was sick again after the P-monia. He was well for PIR though!
In fact, if you search the web...most sites that talk about Basic Training say that ALL branches tell you to prepare for "crud". You have people coming from all oevr the country so new germs...and then the stresses lowering the immune system. Then they get blood taken and LOTS of vaccines. They do get the Peanut Butter shot (gammaglobulin) to try and boost their immune systems.
(SIQ=Sick in Quarters - stays in his rack. LLD= Light limited Duty )
Hi Barb,
Here is the comment from kp125f:
* if you have an SR in ship 14 Div 008 it seems they are pretty much all sick.... nothing serious, it sounds like a nasty cold so lets be sure to say lots of prayers for those guys... I hate they are not feeling well :(
Oh no! My fiance is in Ship 14 Div 008 also, I miss him sooo much I hope he's ok. This is really tough not hearing anything from him :(
I have reservations at the Navy Lodge you do not have to have any special anything. I just called regular old civilian me and booked a suite. I was close to the base and very reasonable. And for all the sick SR's my prayers for strenght and a quick recovery are with them all. Heather I am glad you got a new phone. I got a new one the day before my son left and I told him "I got this new phone so I know it works well. I will carry it always and I promise to keep it fully charged so that you can call me anytime. Call my cell phone I will pick it up no matter where I am." Even in a meeting during class I don't care when it is I will answer it. I even take it when I shower...so I know how you felt and I was lucky to beable to get another one too.
