@ bestymomofPensacolasailor - thanks for the hugs - as much as he could aggravate me to the point of exasperation - i would take that right now instead of the nothingness - i am hanging in there - and no news is good news - and it isn't as bad as the written word makes it sound - but dad gum i miss him

@ watson - ship12/div 007 - I am needing something today or over the weekend - I am not feeling well and so yesterday and today i'm kinda "wallowing" - it sure would be good to hear his voice and read some news

@silkoutwest, I have not gotten anything either other than what you mentioned. My son is in 02/902. Which one is yours in? Thinking we will surely get something today or over this weekend!

Dianne has a good point about the flights out, sInce it is a holiday weekend, they may be pretty booked.  Also flights out will be pretty pricey, so I'll be keeping fingers and toes crossed for possible extended liberty for your soon to be sailors.  :)
Comment by diannep on October 21, 2011 at 8:15am
GL students usually have liberty all weekend (daytime).  But on holiday weekends like this, sometimes those flying out are granted liberty too.  It all depends on when they can get flights out to A School.  Be prepared and plan to stay as long as possible during the weekend just in case.

Hoping for letters today for those still waiting....especially my son's "current" girlfriend!!   I called her and read mine to her so she could feel a little better. To make it worse for her, his ex-girlfriend received a letter and, in all caps, proclaimed it on FB.  To be fair to my clueless, "let's avoid drama" son, I'm sure he mailed them together and current's letter will be a LOT different than ex's letter.  So yes, fingers crossed for letters for anxious mom's AND girlfriends. :)

I did not get a letter on Thursday but my oldest son got one!!!! She also wrote to the younger son in the same letter! I am mom and I paid for and sent her sent her stamps I hope my letter comes today!!! Hang in there my west Texas friend... We will get ours soon!

Liberty: So I've heard, mostly from newbie moms, that there is a rumor our Sailors might have liberty all weekend. Is that something that could happen? I am assuming my daughter will fly out to her A School sometime on Friday. I am also assuming those with "weekend liberty" are the ones who are staying at GLs for their A School. I'll be so heartsick if I leave days before my kiddo does. Thank goodness SW allows changes without penalities.....

So veteran moms - any thoughts on the above?

Comment by Diana(PO3/IT3) on October 21, 2011 at 12:37am
@silkoutwest: I don't know your son but could it be he just didn't realize that Sunday was his only writing/mailing day? No doubt it's disheartening to not hear anything yet. As the others said, you would have heard if there was an issue. So hopefully you can find some peace in that and will have a letter or call soon.....hang in there!
