Matt loves CT already; we've skyped several times since last night. Mostly just text-chats, since his internet (or maybe it's his laptop, idk) tends to cut out randomly.
His roommate has been in CT for a few months already, but last night a couple of Matt's boot camp buddies were in his room hanging out with him.
Still sucks that he's not here, but having texts and skype have been SO much better than waiting for letters.
He gets his address on Monday, and his grandparents come back from FL this week, so I can get the rest of the stuff he wanted and ship it out there when they're back. His Nook, iPod, and electric razor. He stored a lot of his stuff there before he left.
I barely know some of the 007 guys, but they are family to me already. I told matt that if he brings anybody back with him (for holidays or just the weekend), they are always welcome to stay with my parents--my mom loves having people over. :)
Anyone know of any good groups for A Schoolers in P'Cola? Here is the link for one I found:

And did I really say HOOYAY in the description of this site?? Egads...better change that......
Good morning! Home sweet bitter sweet home.....and I know you know what I mean...
Whew! Did all this just happen? Feels like such a whirlwind 2 months and now - *poof* - back to the 'regular' life.
Heard from my girl yesterday throughout our travels to CA and hers to FLA. She sent a pic of her new room. Hadn't met the roommate yet. She has a bit of "down" time to wash clothes, set up her space, and REST before it all starts up on Monday. She is feeling much better. I guess those quiet 2 days verses sight seeing was what she needed. She is bummed because she was separated from her shipmates. They all went to the air base portion. She was shipped to the communications base - smaller and 'older'..... But, all is good. At least now we can communicate. It's hopeful she'll be home during Christmas if only for 5 days. Unfortunately, 2 of them will be traveling as we live so far apart but I'll take what I get....
Oh! And I came home to PICTURES!!! She looks SO awesome in her professional shots. Wow. Tears flowing again.......
I am so HAPPY to have been able to meet at least a handful of you. Wish we had more time but....we needed to be with our babies :) Hope everyone made it home safe and sound. Let's definitely stay in touch...... I guess it's time to switch over to the Pensacola discussion site as well........
Jenn, my son is actually rooming with one of his buddies from Boot Camp, so he was pretty excited. They are allowed to have their phones, I can text my son and see if he knows where yours is :-). He said it was so much more relaxed, he was almost giddy.
Tiffani - so sorry I didn't get to meet you but thank you for the picture of our kids that Diana forwarded to me. Brandon didn't take his phone with him and I didn't go to meet him at the airport (obviously). Are they allowed to use their phones? I'm waiting to hear from him with an address to ship it to. Are they all split up now so they are meeting and rooming with new people or are they still in the same area? I hope my Sailor likes his roommate. I wish he could call so I could ask all the silly mom questions. Maybe he'll get some free time today or tomorrow.
To everyone - it was so wonderful meeting those of you who I met and I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to meet everyone but I'm so glad that we all got to know each other. This has been such an exciting experience!
Well I finally made it home. Really wish I could of met everyone, little bummed about the plane delay, but I made it for the graduation so that's more important. The fun thing is I can put Sailors to their moms now :-). My son had so many stories to tell me. He has made it to Pensacola and now has his roommate, so that's good. Also has his cell phone so we have been communicating. Hopefully he gets to come home for the holidays, he said he might be able to, which would be a bummer.
I spent a good 8-9ish hours with Matt at the airport today. Spent a lot of time at the USO behind security; what a nice place! Matt got a good nap in. I "stood watch" because he was terrified he'd oversleep; silly kid. :)
Met a few more of the 007s; you all have the sweetest guys ever! They're very handsome in their dress blues, too (Matt's still the cutest, but I'm biased. LOL). :)
I managed to not cry until I got allllll the wayyyy back to my dorm in WI; then I lost it entirely. I had bought Matt a card and wrote some things in it...apparently he was in tears on the plane reading it.
While I'm not holding my breath about him coming home for Xmas, being able to text him already is a huge help. :)
I heard that they were handing out guest passes at Ohare and a few parents were able to be there. YEA! My kiddo is about the board for her next station. All is well and I'll see her in a month :-) I feel better - for now. Still, it'll be empty coming home, again, to one less lovey there........
Hope some of you are catching some deals this Black Friday....I'm off to shower and pack and head HOME.......
Hugs and love.......
