DianaA's mom.....This was our scarf deal we did for our entire PIR group.. Each division in our group was given a specific color for a scarf. Many went and bought fleece to make them and make them for others in their division if they were good on the machine, Some went and bought the scarf. Many added their Sailors division number and last name on the scarf as well.. Since our group was SpecOps we only added the division number with no name. The purpose was so we could find each other at the PIR! Some could not attend the Meet and Greet and we all had become a family during boot camp and wanted to meet each other in person and be able to recognize each other at PIR>
We had a PIR total of 1000 that day and it was HUGE! So on the day of PIR everytime we saw someone in a yellow scarf (for 804 division) or any other color we knew was designated, we would all introduce ourselves.. It was so much fun! It was like finding Waldo only it was colored scarfs. We all had a print out on what division had what color so on PIR we would know who was who. I will try to post a pic of my scarf so you can see it. It was alot of fun. It is a great keepsake and it was cold so it kept us warm.. What was funny was we went into Chicago on that Saturday with our Sailor to do some sight seeing and we ran into a few moms wearing their scarfs,, we knew they had to be from our PIR group, I was wearing mine for the weekend as well and we both noticed each other right away and were able to meet each other.
Alot of us also ordered ribbons from Lala,, they are super nice and they will have your division number and name of Sailor if you want on them.. we wore those on the day of PIR as well.
We were able to get all the BS21 dates and posted a link above like you all have going.. We all as a group lit blue candles on the nights our whole Division of PIR of 2/11/11 were going through.. Mind you we had over 1000 graduating so this went on for a whole week but we all stayed faithful with our candles and cheered each division through as the calls home of "I am a Sailor " came in!
Also we all changed our profile pic to blue candles starting the first BS to the last one.
Hope that gives you some ideas to do..
Thanks so much FTLW, And yes Diana I make ribbons for every PIR group to wear to graduation. The are a great way to show your pride and support for your Sailor adn they make a great keepsake. Anyone who wants info can use the links posted by FTLW or just click on my name and send me a friend request.
Meet and Greet
Hi everyone!
I'd like to invite someone from this group add the Meet N Greet to Events.
All you have to do is click on the date (in this case it would be November 22nd for the M&G but you would use 11/23/2011 in the title) on the Calendar on the lower right on this page, it will take you to the events for that day. Click "add" and fill in the boxes.
Then everyone from this group may go there to RSVP for the M & G. ANYONE may attend...the Ramada does this for every PIR group as a courtesy, it is free. Those staying at the Ramada will get a voucher for two free drinks and they have a cash bar. They do not mind if you bring in a water or soft drink with you. The RSVP just helps them get a head count so they know how much food to prepare. But I am sure they make a bit extra!
Here is the info:
Meet N Greet
Tuesday November 22, 2011
6-8 pm
Ramada Waukegan
200 N. Green Bay Rd.
847-244-2400
When you get to the description box you may add a personal invitation! You can also add the info in that box again if you like.
I have added pictures of the Flags from the Keel book to the discussion:
