Yea for letters yesterday!! Sounds like several of us have kids on the same ship and division. Happy to hear the letteres were positive and we can rest a little easier now.
Kendra. great deal on Orbitz! I have my room at the Residence Inn but can change it easily. I'll see what kinds of deals I can get there later today. Where are you flying from?
As for a place with pots and pans, our suite has that. No oven but a stove top, etc. If we stay on there, maybe that will work. Not sure where we'll put everyone but maybe they will have a room for us to 'feast' in. We could get a turkey from a local store. The guy there was super helpful. I think they would go all out to make us comfortable.
Happy Wednesday everyone!
I did get my letter yesterday!!!!!!! I am so happy!!! I cried more than I thought I would when I saw it in the mailbox and then read what he had written. I think just because it was so him. He had dated it 10-5 and had arrived at GL on 9/29 so after 6 days in he still sounded positive. Boy do I miss that kid. I'm in the right place - he is ship 12 div 007. I just keep carrying the letter around with me and looking at it and patting it. His last line to me was: "Now mail your freaking letters!" and that is just what I plan on doing today.
Wow Kendra - that is a really good deal from Orbitz. I may have to look into that. I like the idea of doing a Thanksgiving or if we don't cook something up finding a place where as many of us who would like to get together for Thanksgiving dinner can. We'll have lots to be thankful for!
Good morning, everyone!! I received Christina's form letter yesterday!!!! Funny, I have been so positive in all of my letters to CB and upbeat about everything (especially with this website!).... until yesterday morning.... I actually woke up yesterday with my stomach in knots, worrying sickly about her. My "pump you up" letter from her came just in the nick of time :-)
So I am looking into travel plans and Orbitz has pretty good deal airfare, hotel and rental car for about $375 a person and that includes 4 nights stay.. I was thinking if some wanted to try and pick a hotel to stay at that would be awesome to be able to hang out some.. Also this is another thought that just ran through my mind... If someone was staying at say the Navy Lodge (its not on orbitz FYI lol) and they have a stove and pots and pans we could possibly get together US moms and cook up a Thanksgiving meal! Bonding time! LOL anyways I always have thoughts roaming through my head especailly at 3:30 am Let me know if someone is interested or has any other ideas
<3 Kendra
Hello, everyone and congrats on your current/future sailors! I'm a little behind in posting but I've been reading all of your posts for about two weeks. I'm really not one to brag or get real emotional but some of your posts have caused a few tears to fall.
My daughter arrived at RTC on Oct 3rd. I received "The Box" on Oct 6th and the "Form Letter" on Oct 8th. Her note on the back of the letter was sad and happy!
'She said it started out really rough and it didn't help that she got sick but she's good now. She misses us but she's actually having fun! She has the urge to drill and legitly PT now! She misses NJROTC now!'
Thanks Tiffani!
