@diannep: What was your Residence Inn rate with AAA? I got the military discount and have a suite for $89/night. The Navy Lodge sounds cheaper but they don't have a shuttle? I believe the RI does. Then again, with this PIR being the smallest I've sent yet, doesn't look like driving in will be an issue. This will be cozy!

Welcome to all the newbies here. This is getting exciting! I so hope to meet ALL of you at PIR :-)

Let's hope TODAY is letter day for those of us still waiting..... Jenn, what day are you flying out of San D? How long do you think you'll stay?

Back to work for me. My students are piling up by the door...

@diannep...Exactly what I was thinking!!

Jenn:  No shuttle from Navy Lodge, but it is close to RTC.  Lala stayed there and they drove.  You won't have a problem.  With only 4 divisions, traffic won't be bad.

Welcome, Cheryl-CBsMom!

Ok, so this is the smallest PIR group I have ever seen!  Plenty of room for "extra guests" though!

Hi, Everyone!!!!  Haven't received the form letter yet (hopefully today), but I'm somewhat confident this is the right PIR...  My daughter went to GL 9/28 and we found out from her recruiter she is in Ship 12 Div 008.

We are leaving GR late on Friday evening.  Kind of hate to leave that early, but the difference in cost made it almost not even a question.  I figured we'll get to spend some time with him on Wed, Thur, and Fri at least.  We don't fly out until 8pm so it shouldn't interfere with us spending time with him as long as they let him.

I just went online to reserve the room.  It was pretty easy. I'm not sure about the shuttle, but it is really close to where we have to go.  I had to rent a car so I will be driving anyway.  https://www.navy-lodge.com/lodge_page.html?p_lodge_number=5.

I really hope you get your letter today, figure it will probably be there since I'm in Oregon and your only in California.  All the rooms they have there are a flat rate of 65.00 a night, I just reserved a room with 2 beds and a kitchenette.  Looks like I will be flying into Chicago about 4:30 on the 22 of Nov and I will need to leave Friday night

Comment by Jenn (Proud AO Mom) on October 11, 2011 at 2:44pm

Oh Tiffani - I forgot to tell you congratulations on getting your letter!  I'm so jealous! :)  Keeping my fingers crossed that I see it today. Was it hard to get in at the Navy Lodge?  Did you give them your son's name?  What rate did you get?  Do they have a shuttle that gets you right up where you need to go for ID check?  I will probably be travelling with my 8 month old (will be 10 months by then) so I'm trying to take into consideration how hard it will be to lug her around too.

Comment by ABH Mom (Tiffani) on October 11, 2011 at 12:41pm
That is pretty small.  I just made reservations at the Navy Lodge Hotel, figured it was pretty close
