@Kendra -regarding the comment about keeping them 'til whenever....oh so not true - ever as a recruit. Muster is 8pm SHARP regardless....
Booohooooooohoooooooo...Just dropped off my girl. She slept 'til noonish. We saw a movie and had a family dinner. Not nearly the fun celebration she was counting on and she posted it on her facebook blaming it on her tonsils... :-( But, the good news is I left her MUCH better than I found her. Still sore throat but the fever broke and her color was back.
Her flight is much earlier than your daughter's Kendra. Where is Megan going? As much as I adored Sarge and his generous heart, I discovered a few bits of information that weren't as he stated. Our kids DO have tickets and flight plans. It's not a show up and wait thing. They'll be dropped off at their respective airports as it's not a charter flight. They fly like everyone else with the exception that they'll have the USO to hang out at until their flight.... That was true when A left and is true for tomorrow morning as well...
And now - off to Jenn's room to commiserate........
Hugs all and YEA for time with our babies.....Yes, I will STILL call her that.....
With my sailor son in VA. Had a good dinner at Ruby Tuedays....great salad bar! Finished it off with coca cola chocolate cake takeout from Cracker Barrel....not too traditional for Thanksgiving, but lots of fun! Hope all enjoyed/are enjoying time with their new sailors!
FTLW: And the good news? Naps again when you get to be my age! HOOYAH!
As long as you keep them to 15 minute power naps, you can sleep at night!
Sleep is going to be soooooo helpful in her healing Diana! I was told by our pediatrician years ago that the same hormone that helps us grow gets produced in our adult bodies to help in the healing process...it releases while we sleep...hence the naps when you are young...sleep while you are sick...hope it's true!
Aw Jo - I so understand the tears and not wanting to let go - again. I'm sitting here while my sailor sleeps. She is so sick. We may hit the train for a quick trip downtown for an hour and then ride back. She so wants to see the city and get out and about.....maybe we'll just do the Anastasia's dinner delivery thing and get out for a movie this afternoon....actually, I don't care if I just sit here and watch her sleep all day... It will do her a world of good.
It will be hard enough to say good-bye again but even tougher knowing she isn't feeling well. I'm sure sunshine and a different schedule will help but it's tough seeing her like this now. Her dad and brothers are being good sports. We're just laying low - and enjoying this time together.
Gosh, so many mixed feelings. The last 2 months had a definite time I knew I'd see her. Now.......who knows. I think this stint will be harder to deal with only because of that. At least she's at A school for 2 years so it will be a matter of finding the $ and time to get out there maybe 2x a year.....

Jo, Sorry to hear your mom is making this difficult on you. From a mom's standpoint, I can understand her wanting you close and not wanting to share. Too bad you ALL can't have Thanksgiving together. Warm, positive thoughts to help her reach out to you. And, maybe you do need to tell her this is your life and how you choose to live it. You love her no less for it.
Enjoy your day everyone - however you choose to spend it.
Hugs to you Jo!!!! My own son's girlfriend has gone on this journey with me and has said her Mom doesn't understand in the same way that I do. Her mom is simply wonderful and they have a great relationship, but one doesn't "get it" unless they are living it. And yes, this is a new part of our life.....with all the wonderful reunions comes the inevitable good-bye again. I cried last night, too.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my new "sisters"!! So much emotion the past few days....staying up through Battle Stations, the anticipation of THE CALL, preparing/packing/travelling, up at the dawn of a special day, waiting for those drill hall doors to open, scanning the sea of blue~~I SEE HIM!!!!, running across the floor for that first hug, reliving 20 years of his life as I couldn't take my eyes off of my Sailor yesterday..............complete and utter exhaustion last night. Have never fallen asleep faster :) And I got to meet some of you yesterday. Us 801 Moms, we will stay together for the continuation of this journey as our guys pursue that Trident!!!! When we find which class 293 or 294, we will join that.
