No form letter for me yet either.  :(  Hopefully on Tuesday.  My son has only been gone a little over a week and it feels like it's been 8 weeks already.  I hope he's doing alright.
Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on October 9, 2011 at 10:36am

Hello ladies, I'm Betsy and another "veteran" mom on here to help out.   I also have two sailors in my family.  My youngest son just graduated from A school as a CTT and is currently in Pensacola completing his shipboard operations training. He will receive his Orders around the end of November.  We also have another sailor soon to be in our family, (my daughter's fiance).  My daughter and he live in Hawaii, where is currently stationed as an ET on a nuke sub.

Dianne, I hope your mom is recovering well.  ((Hugs))

Good Morning Dianne, how is your family this morning?
Comment by diannep on October 9, 2011 at 8:13am

Yes, Dianne did!  Thanks, FTLW!  I was so so tired last night.  Sorry, ladies, and thanks FTLW!

Yes, CAPTAINS CUP on Thurs or Friday....Finally got a good night of sleep last night so hoping to be "sharper" on here from now on!

If anyone wants to read about Captains Cup, here is a link:

Good Morning!

I am sure she did FTLW, They have had Captains Cup a day or two early for a couple of PIR groups each year during the holiday weeks.
Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on October 8, 2011 at 9:44pm
I think dianne meant "Captains Cup" for the Thursday or Friday before PIR instead of Saturday. Did you, Di...or am I going loopy? :P
Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on October 8, 2011 at 9:37pm
Diana, the form letter usually comes in the first 10 to 14 days. Ours came 5 days after the box but it felt like it took months to arrive. I cried all the time. I did not like waiting at all. I never have liked waiting and I am all about instant gratification. That is why I make craft items like the PIR ribbons. They can be made in minutes instead of months. I could never be a quilter lol. I hope you get your form letter on Tuesday.  And I will even cross my fingers for you to get the form letter on Tuesday and a real letter by the end of the week :-) You never know, with Monday being a holiday it could happen.
Comment by diannep on October 8, 2011 at 8:48pm
It could be that BattleStations will be Thurs or Fri rather than Sat before PIR.  BattleStations will be finished by the Tues morning before PIR, at the latest, for that PIR group.  They will just start earlier the week before...they get it all done!
Comment by AZKmom on October 8, 2011 at 7:31pm

Do any of you "veteran" moms know how captain's cup and battlestations will be handled with the short holiday week and PIR being on a Wednesday?

Comment by Diana(PO3/IT3) on October 8, 2011 at 6:40pm
